Rayi let go of Kopa's hand and forced herself to her feet. She placed her hand over her wounds and forced her regeneration to work double time, despite being injured with silver. It was difficult, but healing had always been easier for her. After several minutes, the wounds were healed enough she wasn't in any danger of bleeding out.
"Now then. Looks like I have an angel to save." She dusted her clothes off and shifted into a raven.
Flying with a sense of urgency, she couldn't help but think of the worst case scenarios. The angel, dead at Tavor's feet. Zach's head on a pike. Even Sariel's and Chris' death seemed too possible for her right now. She didn't know if it was the girl's fears or her own and that scared her.
She flapped her wings harder.
When the docks loomed into sight, the first thing she saw was smoke billowing between the wooden boards. She shifted and landed on her feet. Her long hair blew violently in the wind and she smelled fire and burning flesh. Racing down the stairs and to the breached concrete wall, she found several angels fighting with demons, trying to keep them from entering the tunnel.
She weaved through their skirmishes and sprinted through the tunnel, eyes stinging from the smoke. Her foot hit a body and she tripped. Lifting her head, frightened dead eyes stared at her and she recognized the Angel of Speed's daughter.
Looks like the training was futile, the girl whispered remorsefully.
Rayi shook her head, got back to her feet, and continued through the tunnel.
For a moment, there seemed to be a lull in the battles. She could see Sariel's ethereal figure dancing around attacks and counterattacked, his movements precise and flaunting his skill with the scythe. Chris fought in a similar way as Kopa had. His attacks were wild and he relied on his long limbs to give him extra reach as he stabbed and kicked at the demons. A ring of fire surrounded him to keep sly demons at bay.
Tavor stood nearby, arms crossed. He watched the battle with flat eyes.
A roar caught her attention. Grim was nearby, ripping through the angel ranks easily, bleeding from several gashes. He was making his way toward her angel, whose back was turned as he was too busy dealing with another demon.
She knew what her father's pet was capable of, the sheer destruction he could cause. It was quite obvious he had devastated the ranks of the angels already and if he were to cut the head off of their group, the rest would fall.
Grim was almost on him.
One of Grim's heads clamped down on the angel's shoulder. He threw his head back in pain and his wings struggled to lift the hellhound off him. Even from where she was, she heard the crunch of his bones in Grim's maw.
Rayi was within arm's reach and she ran up the hellhound's back. Yanking out a dagger that was still embedded in his thick hide, she pierced one of his eyes. The head clamped down on the angel released him with a yelp. She felt the angel's eyes on her as she steered the beast away by grabbing the middle head and wrenching it backward. There was a crack and the head came free. Grim's large body shuddered and he howled with rage and agony.
He leaned backward and she jumped off him before he crushed her beneath his staggering weight. She dropped the head and stared at the infuriated hellhound.
"One down, two to go," She muttered to herself, cracking her neck.
Grim bellowed and ran toward her, his long arms out and ready to grab her. She grinned, "I bet you've been dying to sink your teeth into me for a while now, beastie!"
She avoided his blows and swung herself back onto his shoulders. He bucked but she grabbed the two adjacent heads. She glared down at the angel, who stood there dumbstruck.
