After we learned of the good news, regarding the Millennium Prize, Arona, the gamer girls and I hung out for a while until it got late and I went home.
The next day, I woke up, prepared to get back to work.
As I sat at my desk, I groaned a pain-filled groan as I looked at the stacks of paperwork there.
"Fuck..." I cursed.
"Well... This thing ain't gonna go away on it's own."
—————
Once lunch time rolled around, I got a text from Iori.
Sensei, when you see this text, please come to the District 3 residential area by Gehenna's main gate.
There's... a bit of a problem.
What happened?
Don't ask! Just get over here!
And don't tell the other students that I'm here.
That's a little sketchy, Iori.
I'll be there in just a sec.
What the hell happened to her?
Oh well, I'd better go and see.
At the same time, I get a text from Hina.
I've been pulling all-nighters for the past few days, so I'm really out of it.
Tell those people giving you those papers to fuck off. An all-nighter is fine, but multiple in a row?
On top of that, the dispatch reports and documents I have to process are piling up...
Can't you get Ako to do it? She's your administrator, right? Can't she help?
Not for this. Whenever something happens, everyone turns to me...
Everyone else has the day off, and I'm the only person working today.
It's annoying and frustrating.
I suppose that's what comes with an important job like yours. Believe me, I've started loathing paperwork since I came to Kivotos.
...
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to vent to you.
Please, forget what I said.
It's fine, Hina.
Anytime you wanna talk, text me. I'll listen.
...
Thank you, Sensei.
I sure hope Hina's okay, but for now I need to find Iori.
—————
Iori sent me her GPS location, which I followed to a strangely narrow alleyway in Gehenna.
There's a man-made hole in the middle of the aspalt walkway.
As I move to go around it, I idly look inside.
A single, bright red eye stares into my own."Iori...?" I ask, slowly.
"Yes, Sensei?"
"Why are you in a hole?" I ask, confused.
"Isn't it obvious? I fell into a trap!" She snaps. "I was tracking some Helmet Gang members that were causing trouble in the Gehenna district, when they suddenly lured me toward a dead end. It turned out to be a damn pit trap!" She shouts, angrily. "Those good-for-nothing punks!"
