My eyes jolted open, staring intensely at his mocking face.
I whipped my head out from under his hand, my eyes beckoning to pierce his skin and watch him die before me.
Vampires are the reason I can't go to the library or school or home to my family. They deserve death. All of them.
"What's so funny, huh?" I asked. His mocking reinvited the bloodlust for his kind back into my heart. I do need to survive this.
"Oh? I see we got that fire back in your eye, huh? Isn't that sweet."
His condescending tone made me thrash at the handcuff, attempting to break it and fight.
"That won't work sweetheart. You're mine and by now you must know it."
"I'll die before I become your blood servant. I'll die, I swear it on my parent's grave. Do you understand me?" I spit at his face.
He dabs his cheek and his smirk grows to an entertained smile.
"Who said anything about blood servant? You know vampires can't drink from each other."
"What on Earth are you talking about?"
"The IV. Congratulations. Oh, and speaking of your parents grave, you really have them to thank for this."
"Why? What have you done?" I screamed as loudly as I could, it propted a woman dressed in rags to come into the room.
"Get your superior, nurse. She is my kind now and you'll no longer be fit to serve her." The man spoke down to her.
She looked at me, tears welling in her eyes. It looked like she knew something. Something that's surely terrible.
She fell to her knees and held her hands in her head as she sobbed. This prompted the man to kick her in the ribs and hiss at her. He had a look of pure disgust that drowned out my confusion for pure rage.
