Felix's eyes widened as mine started to glaze over with tears.

"My mom and dad would punish me if I did something wrong, which was almost always..."

My voice cracked a couple of times in that sentence and a few tears fell.

"Hey," Felix said.

I looked up to see him with a worried expression on his face.

"It's alright. You don't have to continue talking about this right now, okay?"

I nodded and turned back to my breakfast.

"Thank you..."

He gave me a small smile before placing a piece of bacon in his mouth. Then he turned back to me and asked,

"Hey, you wanna go somewhere? Like, to have some fun and get your mind off this?"

'A date already!? Hell yeah!!'

Ezra was over the moon about this and yelled at me to say yes.

'As he said, it'll get your mind off them.'

I nodded and said,

"Sure. But where do you wanna go?"

He finished chewing his food before replying,

"I don't mind where we go, you choose."

I continued eating as I considered my options.

We could go on a picnic, or go roller skating, then there's just a regular walk through the park? There are so many different things we could do!!

"Hey, do you want me to decide? You look a little stressed."

I shot my head over to Felix to see his eyes turn black and he sighs in relief.

"Sorry, I was just sick of Felix making a fool of himself in front of you. Maverick."

He stuck out his hand.

I took it to shake but he brought it up to his lips and kissed the back of it formally and sweetly.

Ezra swooned.

"Oh! Um--I-uh... Vincent..."

Why does his demeanor make me so much more flustered?

"So, as I asked before, would you like me to decide?"

I nodded my head while staring into his eyes.

They were as black as tar but still seemed so bright. I couldn't tell what emotion was showing in them. Was it cockiness? Or maybe lust? Probably both with a hint of compassion?

As I was mesmerized by his eyes, Ezra decided to take over and embarrass the living hell out of me. I could feel the shift of color from my eyes, going from sapphire blue to shimmery gold.

"You're so~ hot."

Maverick smirked and asked,

"Well, who might you be?"

He leaned into where I could feel his breath on my lips.

"E-Ezra~"

His eyebrows raised when he heard the whine.

"Hmm~ I could just eat you up, you're so adorable~"

Ezra nodded his head quickly.

"P-please do~"

I took back control and shouted,

"NO! Nuh-uh!! Not gonna happen!"

It seemed at the same time, Felix took control over Maverick.

"I am so sorry!"

He gripped both of my hands in his.

"Please! I don't know what came over him, please ignore that."

I blushed at his contact with my hands.

"What are we going to do?" I asked quickly, referring to the event we planned on doing.

He seemed to think about it for a while, unintentionally stroking small shapes on the back of my hand.

"How about we go to an amusement park?"

"Really?!" I gasped.

My face brightened at the idea.

Why hadn't I thought of that?!

"Yes!!"

I nodded my head almost faster than Ezra did.

Felix seems taken aback by my outburst.

"O-okay! Let's finish breakfast and get ready and we can go."

I forgot all about everything. Felix was going to take me to an amusement park!!

I turned back to my breakfast and started to scarf it down, excited to go on all the rides and play the games.

He chuckled at my actions and I finally came back to the present.

I fixed my posture and wiped my mouth with a nearby napkin.

My corrections seemed to amuse him even more. He laughed harder.

His laugh.

It's... so funny!

I started it laugh along with him. I was still embarrassed by my lack of manners, but his laugh was just so contagious.

As we calmed down our giggles, I asked him,

"Are you really going to take me to an amusement park?"

He nodded.

"Yeah! Have you ever been to one?"

I shook my head and replied,

"No, but I saw the Ferris wheel from my school when I was little. I asked my parents if we could go, but they said I... um..."

I hesitated and looked up to see his eyes.

When he saw me, he frowned.

"They told you you didn't deserve to go, didn't they?"

I nodded, ashamed.

He took my hand in his again and looked sympathetically into my eyes.

"Hey, you deserve kind, loving parents. Because you're wonderful, smart, adorable--"

"I'm not adorable!!" I protested.

He raised an eyebrow at me and said,

"You have the cutest face I have ever seen on any human being. You're adorable."

I flushed a deep shade of pink at the compliment.

"Whatever..."

He tilted my face up from looking at my lap to meet his gaze. He leaned in and pecked a small kiss on my forehead. Then picked up his plate and whispered,

"Eat your breakfast then put on some clothes. We can leave in less than an hour."

I blushed harder and nodded.

He walked into the kitchen to wash the dishes and I turned back to my plate.

'Maybe he's not so bad after all?'
