PROLOGUE

My name is Aaliyah, and I am from the ruling UAE family. For many years, my family have been trying to make allies with the English. It never happened because the timing was never right.

That was then. This is now.

The season is ripe for a marriage between two kingdoms, and it has fallen to me, the first-born daughter, to marry the next in line to the English throne.

Yes, I have met him before, and yes, I did not like him one bit and, no, it was not recently. He was an obnoxious boy, and we fought a lot if I remember correctly.

I don't think I will ever like him that way. When I told my mum that, she looked at me and shook her head. She obviously did not believe me.

I just hope she will now.
