Everything is silent. All you can feel is the coldness of the floor you are laying on.
Not a single one of your senses, besides touch, seems to be working. Despite that, you seem to hear a voice calling for you, urging you to open your eyes.
You don't want to do it. You have the feeling that once you open them, you will wish you just had kept them closed, that you had not listened to that small, eerie voice at the back of your head that keeps getting creepier and creepier.
However, your body doesn't listen to you. As if it was set on auto mode, you open your eyes and wobbly stand up.
Your vision is blurry, but at least the voice is gone and that brings you some comfort, which quickly disappears once your eyes start working properly and you take a look at your surroundings.
"What...?" You try to form a complete sentence, but can't seem to find the words or, rather, they refuse to leave your mouth.
You're surrounded by tall buildings that you are sure never existed in your hometown, but that for some reason feel familiar to you. Just as if you had seen them hundreds of times.
It is so late at night that you can't read what's written on the billboards all over the buildings with how dark it is. Not that you could've paid much attention to details even if you wanted to, you're too disoriented and filled with panic to do so.
You were at home playing video games, weren't you?
You planned on playing your favourite game just one last time before going to bed, which was why you were in your pyjamas.
Exception made for the fact that what you are wearing isn't a pyjama at all.
When did you change clothes? Have you always had the hoodie you're currently wearing? You never remembered buying these combat boots or the trousers you had on.
A vibration from one of your hoodie's pockets snaps you from your panic. Your hand reaches for the item inside and pulls it out.
Out of shock, you let the item fall to the ground.
It's a small, black digital handbook, with a red heart suit drawn on its back.
You recognize that handbook. Of course, you do. You had seen it hundreds and hundreds of times when playing a certain game.
Shakily, you reach down to take it once again. Turning it around, you notice it had turned on, an array of kanji and symbols appearing in front of you. For some unknown reason, you know exactly what it's saying.
