7. You Wonder

You wonder why I wonder,

You wonder why I wait.

You wonder why I ponder,

When I know it makes me late.

You wonder why I never speak,

And why I'm always quiet.

You wonder why I find and keep,

And why I don't just buy it.

You wonder why I'm such a fool,

'One cannot be this dumb!'

You wonder why I prefer the cool,

To lying in the sun.

You ask so many questions,

Yet I will answer none.

For I know you'll offer suggestions,

Before I've asked for some.

But still, I will say this,

A question for the rest.

Are you not afraid to miss,

The life with which you've been blessed?

Are you so much filled with strife,

That you care not about having and giving?

Have you not found the life,

One that you deem worth living?

It saddens me if this is true,

And if you do not find joy,

In the little things that people do,

That you say you'd rather destroy.

But no, don't answer what I've said,

At least, not out loud.

For these are things for only your head,

And not for such a crowd.

And so, I leave you to decern,

For that, I know you will do.

And in your pondering, I hope you learn,

That life does not revolve around you.
