DON'T WORRY ITS JUST A RAINCOAT
✧༻♥༺✧༺♥༻✧༻♥༺✧
Surely today would be like every other day. His morning routine went like it did every morning. He was late, no big deal! Or so Seokjin had thought.
He just didn't know an encounter with a dimpled alpha would lead to something else.
Seokjin woke up with the sound of the annoying drum beating against his ear signaling for him to get up for the day. It took a moment for his brain to process to get up to prepare for work. His bleary eyes heavy with sleep stared at the blurred red lettering that read '5:30 AM" sharp. A moan of protest couldn't help but escape him as he nestled back into the thin cotton duvets that hugged him, it did little to maintain his body heat through.
Soon enough he forced himself to sit up, blowing the bed hair that tickled his face annoyingly. Hands ran down him before slapping them against his cheek, a red mark blooming on the pale skin. It was his way of getting himself motivated enough to start the day. A yawn stretched his lips which made his eyes teary.
His bone cracks rippled through his body after his tense muscles could finally move freely. A sigh of contentment left his lips. His back always ached after sleeping on his cheap bed mattress, one he had owned for years. His bed had a bunch of old pillows and blankets on it. An attempt of making a nest, one that felt lousy and ugly. It wasn't scented with anything but his own smell, the cushioning was flat instead of soft and fluffy, and the texture scratched at his skin.
After all, it was all, he could manage to afford even with the fact he lived in a crappy. Everything that was littered with him was either old or thrifted. There was no in-between.
It wasn't like he had that many choices. He needed to save every penny he had. Especially with the rising prices of heat suppressants. Those small pills and patches took a decent chunk out of his income.
Luxuries like new and untouched clothing or even furniture were not privileges handed to him. It wasn't like he had to have them, they were just something nice to own. Although his omega at times begged him to just buy all the softest pink quilts for his sad-looking nest.
That was why when he went to the store, he always avoided the bedding aisle and all the pretty pink decorations just so he wouldn't indulge and go way over his tight budget.
What kind of person didn't want the finer things in life though? He couldn't be blamed for wanting to just want to have some nice things. Especially if he didn't grow up with any.
People did say an easy solution to cut down costs was to get himself a mate.
Maybe it was his own wishful thinking, but he wanted to save that special something for someone he truly loved. It was something so intimate and he wouldn't give it up even if he got mated it would save him so much money.
However, mating was for life and money wasn't. Money comes and goes. A mate stays forever connected with you and if you did sever a bond, it would be excruciatingly painful. People die for things like that.
But you know what he did have was his collection of Mario figurines, something he was incredibly proud of. Many other people would say it's childlike or lame but luckily it wasn't like anyone else but he and his family knew of it since he had long lost contact with friends.
Although most of them were gifted or thrifted. There wasn't much else in life for him to do. Even if he wanted to do things he couldn't. He lived to eat and sleep, there wasn't much else. After all, it was a rinse-and-repeat cycle. Seokjin acknowledged his life was bland, with no vibrant colours painting it. He had long accepted his fate to not expect much, probably going to die old and alone at this point. Perhaps he should get a cat to own.
