Lorenzo opens the car door for me when we arrive at the big house. The flower field right behind it. It's so pretty here. I would've loved to grow up in such an environment. Lorenzo looks at me as if he needs reassurance about me still wanting to be here. Ofcourse I want to so I smile in return.
But something is still on my mind kinda.
I hate him as a mob but I like him as a person.
He looks like a man who has work at work and home at home, but not at all times. He's a nice guy, scary looking because he's so tall and he has big arms and such a broad chest. I can tell because I haven't slept as good as I did laying against his chest in his arms it was like heaven.
I don't even know the guy this long and I miss him and long for him. I've never had that feeling over a boy rather than a man, I'm not used to this. The idea of him being a mob doesn't make me uncomfortable at all. Maybe it is because the guy has been - or I hope - open with me from the start.
We walk up to the frontdoor as Lorenzo opens the door for me "Don't be nervous" He whispers with a deep rumble. I breath in and out, as if I'm his highschool girlfriend meeting his family for the first time.
"What are we saying?" He frowns not understanding what I had meant. "Like as in what we are" I explain myself. He understands but shrugs not caring. I'm stressing even more now. "Okay we're friends" I mumble but he hears and makes a non approvable sound. Like I care.
"Lorrie?" an older voice calls from another room. I snort as he gives me a glare.
"Good one" I mutter.
"Shut up" he laugs embarrassed.
"I like it, it's cute"
"don't tell her, she'll even call me Lorrie more"
"I will a hundred percent tell her"
A woman comes around the corner as Lorenzo grabs my jacket. She's old and looks like his grandmother. "Lorrie sweetheart how are you?"
"Good evening grandma" he kisses her cheek. How sweet.
"You have company with you" she exclaims happily. "Oh you are such a beautiful girl I'm Lorenzo his grandmother Mrs. Giordano, but Call me Analia please" she smiles brightly at me.
"Hello good evening, Everleigh and thank you Analia" I try to shake her hand but she pulls me in for a hug. I guess she's a hugger. Lorenzo his Grandma is such a sweet woman, she's very short and looks like she has seen it all but she smiles like a sunflower and I love it. Sunflowers are my favorite the bright yellow it shines it's happy, the happiness I sometimes wish to have.
Lorenzo puts his hand on the small of my back leading me through the hallway to a livingroom I think. "Good evening everyone, this is my friend everleigh" Lorenzo waltzes the introduction through immediately. But his voice turned somewhat disgusted at the word friend. Like what does it even mean?
"Oh hello, Lorenzo I thought you would've taken Elijah I put beer cold for him" I think his mom exclaims rather shocked. "I'm Elizabeth Giordano, Lorenzo Luca and Marie's mother" She smiles brightly at me. I smile back at her. "This is my husband Alessandro Giordano" she points to a man in the corner smoking a cigarette. He gives me a curt nod acknowledging my presence.
Lorenzo goes to sit down and takes me with him to sit down. A little girl comes over to us. "Hello, I'm Marie and you should look out for him because he is really scary" she whispers the last part.
"How so?" I ask her.
"Well I got picked on once and he scared that boy away by just looking at him, does he look mad at boys when they are around you?" She asks me.
"Oh he's not scary Marie, but protective over you because he loves you" I smile at her. She instantly goes to hug him. She pecks his cheek and Lorenzo pecks her back. I wish I had a little brother or sister. It's something I actually missed. I couldn't really play because I didn't have time but the free time I did have were really boring.
I do have some family but I don't see them like ever. I saw my dad last at the funeral and with my family the exact same. I don't really have someone to be with on nights like these. It hurts, It stings. But it's beautiful to see that this is how a family bond works.
We ate really good Elizabeth had made such a good pasta and salad, that my stomach is exploding from food. She did gave me a glass of wine instead of a beer, but then Lorenzo bothered to tell them I am underaged and can't drink. His mom told him in Italy I am allowed so in her household I am to.
The evening was amazing, the food the people, the wine. Just perfect. Something I wished for when I was ten all alone with a mother sick and a dad not there for me. Alone in a big world without protection a family gives, the warmth and happiness.
Back in the car I speak up first. "Your family is amazing Lorenzo, they are such sweet people"
He looks at me grinning from ear to ear. "They could be your family to you know" Winking at me playfully.
"Flirt"
