Those words stung Hiccup.

He loved his parents dearly, but he wasn't very fond of talking about how they died. He felt both of their deaths were his fault and he was never able to fully heal from it.

"Oh, they both passed away several years back." He said, trying not to show her that he was uncomfortable.

Elsa felt it though, so she decided to speak.

"You don't have to talk about it." She said, putting her hand up in front of her chest. "I was just curious, but I can see you're not ready for it."

"No, I would love to talk about it." Hiccup said. "I would like to refrain from talking about my mother's passing, though. At least for now."

"Of course." Elsa said. "I understand."

Hiccup wasn't ready to talk about his mom. They were going to the place where she died and it was far more recent than his dads passing.

He had told the story of his dad many times, so he was comfortable enough telling it again.

"Well, my dad was a stubborn Chief. He wanted everything done his way or no way, much like true Viking fashion." He began.

"One day, a couple years after we made peace with the dragons, I was flying and I ran into a strange person who was riding a dragon, watching me. They took me back to a sanctuary and took off the mask they were wearing. Low and behold, there was an older woman standing in front of me with the widest eyes, almost as if she was looking at a ghost. That woman turned out to be my mother who was taken by a dragon a few weeks after I was born."

Elsa was listening, not wanting to miss a word he said. Did he actually run into his mother while he was out riding?

"My father tracked Toothless' scent and he showed up in the sanctuary. He saw my mom, his wife, and was awestruck. We spent the evening together as a family. I was so excited and happy to finally have both of my parents in one room, just talking and catching up."

His shoulders dropped and he took a deep breath.

Elsa noticed and placed a hand in his knee as a way to comfort him. He smiled at her gesture.

"She's definetly still in there somewhere." He thought

"Everything was cut short when a man named Drago started a war on the island. We began to fight, there were explosions everywhere and loud noises. Me being me, I thought I could talk to Drago and change his mind, so Toothless and I landed not far from him and caught his attention. However, Drago had an alpha dragon, meaning he could command that dragon to control other dragons that weren't the alpha. He took control of Toothless and he got ready to attack."

He looked at Elsa. She had a look of concern in her face. Rightfully so.

"I tried to calm Toothless down, tried to get him out of the alpha's control, but I couldn't. I was backed into a wall of ice and he opened his mouth, ready to shoot a blast of fire at me and ultimately kill me." He continued.

"I was so occupied on getting him out of his trance, I didn't realize my dad was running towards me. I put my hands out and yelled at him to stay away, but he didn't listen. He pushed me away and into the ground seconds before Toothless shot a blast. My dad took the hit and died instantly."

Elsa felt sorry for him. She just lost her parents in a shipwreck, but he lost his dad by the hands of his best friend. Her story was nothing compared to his.

"That's terrible." Was all she could get out.

She wasn't big with words. I'm fact, this is the most she's said since Grimmel's takeover.
