The next morning, Jin woke up to the sound of June's infectious laughter. Groaning, he covered his face with a pillow, recalling the events from the previous night. Suddenly, the bedroom door swung open, and June burst in, leaping onto his bed with excitement. "Papa, breakfast is ready! Everyone's waiting for you," she exclaimed before darting out, leaving the door wide open.
Jin tossed the pillow aside, pondering, "Who's everyone? Did Charles give her sugar for breakfast?" However, as he listened, he detected additional voices, including that of another child, a boy, to be precise. Hastily, Jin sprang from his bed and briskly exited the room. Nearly stumbling, he caught sight of Yoongi lounging on the couch, casually scrolling through his phone.
Startled, Yoongi glanced up, teasingly remarking, "Look who finally decided to join us," as he rose to his feet. Despite Jin's perplexed and slightly irritated expression, Yoongi's demeanor softened. A smile played on his lips, and he seized Jin's arm, pulling him into a tight, bone crushing hug. Uncertain of the situation, Jin reciprocated, hugging Yoongi tightly to confirm the tangible reality of the moment.
"Why didn't you tell me, hmm?" asked Yoongi calmly, gently pushing Jin away. "I have a niece that I didn't know about." Jin was too stunned to respond, but his eyes welled up with tears. Seeing this, Yoongi chuckled, "Ahh, I missed you too, hyung."
"Jinnie hyung!" both Yoongi and Jin yelped in surprise, hearing Hoseok's loud voice as he sprinted towards them, leaping onto Jin and nearly causing them both to stumble.
"How could you hide June from me?" he yelled. Lowering his feet to the ground and stepping back, he added, "From the others, okay! But from me? I thought I was your best—" Yoongi rolled his eyes and interrupted him, pushing him to the side. Everyone knew that if anyone held the title of Jin's best and most trusted friend, it was him, his longtime roommate.
Namjoon emerged from the kitchen, hand in hand with a little boy. Upon spotting Jin, they halted and slowly approached him. Jin, wide-eyed, glanced between Namjoon and the child, immediately recognizing who the child belonged to. The child gazed back at him with innocent curiosity, having heard numerous amusing stories about his uncle Jin and now finally meeting him in person.
As the kitchen door swung open again, Jin shifted his focus, observing Taehyung and Jungkook entering the living area. Their eyes met with Jin's, who appeared rooted in place. The room fell silent, tension thickening in the air. Once more, the door opened, and June entered, hand in hand with Jimin, both laughing.
Jin shot a disapproving glare at his daughter, thinking, 'So much for teaching her never to trust a stranger.'
Jungkook approached Jin, but the latter stepped back, immediately calling for June and instructing her to go to her bedroom. Predictably, she whined and resisted.
"Jin," Jungkook began to speak, but he hesitated upon witnessing Jin's angry glare.
"I... I need some air," Jin managed to say before turning abruptly and heading back to the bedroom.
"Jin hyung, please..." It was Jimin who called out to him. Jin stopped, and without facing them, he uttered, "Please leave. I don't want to talk right now. I'm sure you all are busy preparing for your next concert." He directed his gaze at Charles and instructed, "Make sure everyone leaves. I'm going to take a shower." Charles bowed, responding, "Of course, Mr. Kim."
Jungkook hurried after him, grabbing his arm and attempting to turn him around. However, Jin forcefully pushed him back, yelling, "What do you want, Jungkook? Hmm? What do you expect from me and June? To be your secret family? Because the last time I checked, you have a son with Jimin. You chose to play father to his child, and that destroyed us. There will never be an 'us' again. Go back to your official family and leave me alone. On your way out, give Charles your number so we can figure things out. Now that June knows who you are, I will allow you to visit her – that's all you'll get. And you know what Jackson and June have in common? You aren't registered as the father on her birth certificate either."
