Junior Year
Crap. I hate waking up early, and I hate the fact summer is really over now. Today is the first day of junior year, and Jenna decides to take her sweet-ass time covering her face with makeup. Jenna and I are cousins. Our moms are twins. Jenna was lucky enough to have Aunt Charlie as her mother. Catherine, my mother left me years ago, along with my father. They just dropped me off at Jenna's house and never returned since then. As far as anyone knows, my parents are "dead". Aunt Charlie placed me in her family as her second daughter, thus changing my last name and everything else.Jenna likes to say, we're twins. We have the same curly black hair and brown eyes like our mothers. Hell, even our birthdays are only a few days apart, but we couldn't be more different. She was wild and did things that I would never do. I was too responsible for a 16 year old girl, and focused more on books than boys.
Jenna on the other hand, was currently dating Jake Uley (her longest relationship yet); one of her new boy toys. Jenna was known for dating many guys but according to her, "No guy could tame her, yet."
Her words, not mine.
"JENNA! Hurry up!" I yell.
"I just need to find my red lipstick!" She yells back.
I walk out the door to warm up the car. It's the middle of September and the chilly air in the morning, wasn't my favorite type of weather. I ran into the car, holding both my bag and hot coffee. I'm wearing leggings and a black hoodie. Comfy is my go-to look.
My hair was everywhere, but I learned a long time ago to embrace it. Meanwhile, Jenna comes out the door with a loose black dress and brown boots. Her red scarf was neatly placed around her neck and her hair was curled perfectly. It stunned me how much she looks more like our moms than I do. All I inherited from my mother was her eyes and hair. My face was completely my father's, in my opinion.
Jenna drove off and we arrived at school with time to spare. It was perfect. I needed to stay low for while, but I forgot about homeroom. The first day of homeroom was usually my favorite. Now it was just hell, all because of my so called best friend. Matthew Romero is the running back of our school's football team, and the biggest man-whore in our grade. He's been my best friend since as long as I can remember, but lately things have been changing. I have been changing.
At the end of the summer, I saw him again. Someone that I should not be talking to. I didn't even want to think about it... Matty was furious with me for associating myself with him again. It wasn't even my fault at all. I didn't want to go to that stupid party in the first place. Jenna and Matty both insisted that I needed to have fun, so I was forced to go. I drank too much and ended up kissing him...again... but that's the past.
He shall remain unnamed in my head for my own sake.
He never tried to contact me in both occasions. I felt sort of hurt but I was warned about him by Matty, and the past was a perfect example of that. I knew what kind of guy he was. He used girls for his own needs, and dropped them faster than I could possibly keep track of. But there was a time when things were different. He saw me when I was invisible. He understood how I felt about people leaving me, but as soon as he joined the football team, things changed. Then sadly his parents died and he no longer saw me as his angel.
"Angel, don't tell me you're still mad at me?" Matty asked as he sat down next to me. I laughed, he was always so dramatic.
"No I'm not mad. If anything, just annoyed." I replied. He looks at me with his green eyes, that are so similar to his and says, "I was looking out for you, I didn't mean to yell or cause a scene. I was just drunk and confused."
