Chapter 5 - One after the Other
Months have passed since Jason joined the Captain on the sailing gentlemen's club. His friends and family in London had no clue that he was aboard a pirate ship, let alone one with a gay strip club hidden aboard. He continued to send them letters regularly as if he was roaming the alluring wilderness of the Mediterranean or the majestic beauty of the Orient.
While he did that, he also led the ship to exotic places and hidden shores to pick up and drop off their loyal customers. He picked the locations of their stops and ordered Captain Christ to tell his pirate crew where to go.
He was an effective leader and an efficient businessperson. However, with the increasing responsibilities and duties that he had to take, his personality also changed. When once the King thought of him as a just and righteous person-the reason why he was made leader in the first place, now they wanted Jason replaced and out of the picture.
What the other Kings didn't know was that the secret meetings they held were no secret to Jason. He knew that it would only take some time before the rest of the Kings retaliated against him just as they did to the Captain. And so he had done his best to gain the trust of a few gentlemen in the ship and even a handful of the Captain's pirates. He kept eyes and ears all over the pirate ship to watch for any unusual or private gatherings of the six other Kings.
The only person he trusted on the ship was Justin. They had remained a strong couple for months though Jason had been busy with the business operations of the ship. And though he considered setting Justin as a spy in the Kings' meetings, he cared for him too much to put him in danger. Besides, he knew that the Kings would not trust him with their secrets because he was Jason's lover.
One day, as Jason was talking to the strippers and dancers of the club, one of his eyes and ears came to him to report an interesting thing.
"Captain Jason," the pirate said as he approached, "may I speak with you privately?"
Jason raised his hand and sent the strippers and dancers out of the room. He then turned to the pirate and asked, "What is it?"
"Sire, I saw Miguel Wu talk with Justin earlier this morning," the pirate informed Jason. "I didn't report immediately because their conversations had been friendly...so far."
Jason sat straight on his seat, anxiety running through his mind. "What do you mean so far?"
"Well, I wouldn't know what the direction of their conversation would be, for sure. You see, they had taken off to Miguel's room and hadn't gone out since. Our guy, the cleaning maid stationed by the boy's room, said no one else had gone in or out since this morning so I assume it's only Miguel and Justin inside."
Jason's brows met in the middle in an angry frown, his eyes filled with fury, but it wasn't for Justin. It was for this pirate who dared suggest that Justin was cheating on him with his own ex-lover.
"Get out of my sight before I tear you from limb to limb," he ordered the surprised pirate who scampered away like a frightened little mouse.
"Oh, dear," the Captain said as he entered the club. "What could one of my pirates have done to make you so mad?"
"You don't want to know, Captain," Jason replied.
"Sure I do. He's my crew after all."
Jason looked up from the business reports he was studying to eye Captain Christ with his leftover rage.
