After the defense minister's statement, many ministers stood up and protested against this idea.
"THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!! HOW COULD SOMETHING LIKE THIS POSSIBLY HAPPEN?" The economy minister was the first to dispute the assumption.
"THEN HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN OUR NEIGHBORS SIMPLY DISAPPEARING?" The air marshal rebutted the minister and so began a widespread discussion divided into two groups, one that supported the defense minister and the air marshal composed mainly of the high-ranking commanders of the armed forces with the argument that there was no other explanation and that the disappearance was the only possible occurrence., while the second group supported the economy minister and went against it saying that it was probably some kind of Russian or Chinese weapon.
This situation began to irritate the president, How could the leadership of the country be in complete chaos during an unprecedented national crisis?
"SILENCE!" Arthur demanded and everyone shut up and sat back down waiting for the president to express his opinion.
"If we the people's chosen ones are in complete anarchy, what will happen to the country?" this calmed the spirits and made everyone reflect what had happened.
"We must look at the facts, it is impossible that it is the work of some kind of Russian or Chinese weapon since we would know of the existence of such a weapon." That was the logical line of thinking, if such a weapon could exist then it would have already been discovered by intelligence agencies around the world.
"Let's not jump to conclusions, how long before we get satellite images to find out what happened?" Arthur rolled his eyes at the air marshal waiting for an answer.
"One day, Mr. President, that is the time we need to target our satellites"
"Good, we will wait for those images to give a verdict on what happened, in the meantime we have a bigger problem to deal with" The president was correct, in a few hours it would dawn and people would start waking up, it was only a matter of time before the country would plunge into chaos.
"I believe we should declare a state of siege" The army marshal said, which generated some complaints.
"This had only caused more unrest and chaos among the people, just imagine the situation that overnight a state of siege was declared." The communications minister railed against the idea.
"What do you suggest we do? We will have commercial planes and ships leaving the country in this chaotic situation." The army marshal countered.
"I have the solution." The vice president then spoke up. "We will position the navy to prevent boats and ships from leaving the ports, and we will also seal off the airspace. We should wait until the middle of the day for you, Mr. President, to make a speech and explain the situation to the people, only then I believe we should declare a state of siege to prevent any chaos among the population."
