When Katherine imagined herself walking out of an ancient elven library, tacked under the side of the mountain, she certainly did not see herself bumping her head on the ceiling, then stumbling her way out with the help of Scott's scaffolding.

Very graceful, Katherine. Very graceful.

"Katherine, are you alright?" Gem giggled, watching her stumble.

"Yep. I'm fine. Totally fine," the faery chirped. "Just need a moment so the world stops spinning."

"Be careful there, Katherine. First, you almost broke both of your legs when you jumped down the library and now this." Scott laughed, striding behind his friends.

"It really isn't my day." Katherine rubbed her forehead. "I sure hope it won't leave a knob."

A loud bark was enough to avert all three leaders' attention. Katherine watched a wolf climbing down the hill and running to them with a scroll tied to his collar. Her heart skipped a beat. She knew who it was from before she even read the message. The wolf walked up to her and sat near her feet. Katherine reached for the scroll with a smile.

"Thank you, buddy," she thanked the wolf, scratching him behind the ears before unfolding the message.

It was only two lines long, but it was enough to make Katherine noticeably pale.

"Katherine? What does it say?" Gem asked, but the faerie queen was unable to speak. Scott looked over her shoulder.

"Wait, Shrub''s been kidnapped by the demon?" he read out loud.

"Oh, no. This can't be good," Gem mused.

Katherine's hands were shaking. "They got her where the corruption was left," she said quietly.

"Wait, the place where we stored the corruption ages ago?" Scott asked. "Oh, no."

The silence between them was as heavy as ten anvils stacked together. Katherine fought back the tears that swelled up in her eyes. She couldn't let the other leaders know about her turmoil. She needed to remain composed. How did this happen?

"We can't sit idly. We have to prepare," Gem proclaimed. "I need to gather the items for the spell, you guys have to prepare for battle. We have to get Shelby back."

Katherine couldn't agree more with that statement and nodded.

"I'll message Pearl too. Any muscle we can get is good muscle," said Scott. "Let's meet at House Blossom since it's closer to the spot."

Gem opened her crystal wings. "Okay, I'll meet you at Katherine's once I get the items I need."

"Okay," Katherine mirrored, opening her own bee wings and soon the king of Rivendell, the Protector of the Overgrown and the Wizard of the Crystal Cliffs soared in the clear blue sky which was no indicator of the ominous situation the Emperors found themselves in. When Katherine was finally alone, she let the tears flow, falling into the ground like droplets of rain. A few sobs escaped her throat and her vision was so blurry that she almost missed the way to her own home.
