The night was dreadful. The stars didn't glitter in the sky, almost non-existent and the moon had also disappeared behind dark clouds. The darkness was as thick as the fog surrounding the Evermoore. In the quietness of the night only evil things prospered.

Somewhere on the back hills of the kingdom of Glimmer Grove, cluttering and flashes of battle could be heard and seen even across the river. There was always some kind of noise surrounding the cursed kingdom in the night, but some evil was brewing tonight that made its citizens tremble in fear more than usual.

An axe swang with force, slicing through the darkness, barely missing its target. Katherine panted and gave another violent swing, missing Sausage's face by inches. He grinned at her, but it wasn't his usual cheerful smile. His red eyes flashed and Katherine thought he had never looked so terrifying for as long as he had known him.

"Ah, I haven't had this fun in centuries!" He exclaimed. "You're a worthy opponent, princess Katherine!"

Katherine gritted her teeth and went for this head again, but this time he blocked the attack with his stuff. Peculiar how it didn't smash under the force of Katherine's giant axe. Sausage's eyes glowed dangerously and pushed Katherine away. She landed back on her feet, breathing heavily.

This had been going on for a while now. Although Katherine loved a good challenge, this was getting really exhausting even for her own standards. Sausage was strong, but she never would imagine him to be this strong. After all, rumor said that he had been beaten very easily by Pearl, his pal from Hermicraft, so he shouldn't be as strong as he was now.

Except that, Katherine came to realize, this wasn't their Sausage. This was his evil alter ego. And he was insufferable. Powerful and seemingly unbeatable.

"Getting tired so soon? What a pity!"  Sausage Supreme mocked. "In any case, I will enjoy thoroughly consuming your soul."

"In your dreams!" Katherine yelled out. Sausage didn't seem to expect it, but he also didn't react which was suspicious in itself. If it was another one of his cheap tricks…

A spell hit her across the chest and Katherine flew away from Sausage, landing harshly and rolling on the grass, her axe escaping her grip. She rolled several feet away and she came to a halt in front of a rock, gasping for air.

"Way to ruin the fun, Shelby!" She heard Sausage complain.

"She was going to kill you," another voice answered matter-of-factly. A chill ran down Katherine’s spine. Shelby's voice was cold and distorted and if Sausage hadn't used her name, Katherine would have recognized her in the darkness. She slowly pushed herself up, clenching her left arm, blowing her blood-stained hair away.

There she was in the distance covered in Skulk from head to toe, sleeveless but never hat-less, a grim aura surrounding her. But the eyes, the eyes were the worst of all. The golden, warm orbs were gone, replaced by the darkness of the Skulk. It was the first time Katherine truly felt afraid.
