It had gotten out.

Word had gotten out about Noah and I's marriage.

Jack woke me up three days after Noah had showed up at my apartment, shouting and screaming in my face about me needing to read something.

"Eloise! Shit, girl, wake up!" Jack shook me, abruptly waking me up from my once peaceful slumber.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Jack? What's going on?"

"Read this," he said urgently, shoving his phone in my face and flicking on the lamp on my bedside table.

I winced at the bright light of his phone screen, blinking the sleep out of my eyes. Once my eyes adjusted, I read over the title of the Daily Mail article that was written in bold letters. Abrasively bold.

Noah Mitchell Secretly Married In Vegas (Exclusive Photos)

I scrolled down, my lips pursed. They sure did have a field day with this situation. Someone had been at the bar that night, and Noah and I must've not even noticed. There were pictures upon pictures of Noah and I all over each other, even one admittedly flattering picture of me with my arms around Noah, my head thrown back as I laughed. Noah looked down at me with a glint in his eyes. And the worst picture of them all was us standing on the side of the road, both of our hands grasping each other's.

And an Elvis wedding officiant standing in between us.

We had gotten married on the side of the road? In public? How stupid could we have been?

"Jack..." I trailed off, reading bits and pieces of the article.

The article speculated about the whole ordeal. Was I just a drunken fling or had I been with Noah in secret for quite some time? Someone close to Noah even contacted Daily Mail, saying that they had been with Noah in bed a day after the wedding. That made this entire thing even worse. Finally, they found out who I was. How they had figured it out, I had no idea, but my notable client list probably helped.

'Noah Mitchell was spotted this past Saturday in Vegas, getting very comfortable with a woman we now know as Eloise Novak. Fans saw them having an impromptu wedding ceremony on the strip in Las Vegas, passionately kissing after becoming husband and wife. Daily Mail checked the validity of their wedding, and we did in fact find an official marriage certificate with Both Mitchell's and Novak's name on it.

Novak, 26, is an aspiring fashion designer, most known for designing for B List celebrities and actors alike. Sources tell us that both Mitchell and Novak appeared heavily intoxicated as they tied the knot. Will this marriage last, or is Novak another one of Mitchell's flings?'

"I should've expected this. I'm surprised it took this long for the story to break." I weaved my fingers through my hair.

It was a new feeling, seeing your name plastered on the headlines of some huge tabloid. Of course I didn't like it very much, but I had gotten myself here. It is what it is. I just have to play with the cards I've been dealt.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't already made my decision about staying married to Noah. This bombshell of a report only confirmed it. If I wanted this whole thing to go away as smoothly as possible, I had to stay with Noah. Getting a divorce or annulment would only cause all of this drama to go down in flames.

"Everything's going to be okay, El. We'll figure-"

"Just to let you know, there is a whole crowd of paparazzi outside your building," a sudden voice said. Jack and I's heads shot over to where the voice came from. None other than Noah stood in the doorway of my bedroom. He wore a t-shirt and some basketball shorts, and he was in quite a sweat. He must've been out jogging.
