"ms. lombardi," my teacher paced around the front of the room, large ruler in her hand, "and, mr.grier."

"ms. lombardi, you've been attending this school for quite a while, am i wrong?" she questioned, tapping her long nails against the edge of my desk.

"yes ma'am, this is my ninth year," i replied.

"damn, girl," hayes whispered to me.

"mr. grier!" ms. antoinette said with force, causing hayes to jump.

"sorry, ms. antoinette," he mumbled.

"claire, you are known to be the troublemaker in this school, but hayes, this is your first day. i recommend you choose your friends wisely, but only if you care about your reputation, of course," ms. antoinette told hayes bitterly.

"i'm afraid that you can't choose my friends for me ma'am," hayes smiled.

she was taken aback, "alright, it seems were done here. you have one strike, lombardi. high school is not a joke."

she hit the desk with her ruler, "out!"

we quickly ran out of the classroom, laughing hysterically.

"i didn't know you were a bad-ass," hayes winked.

"i guess i am," i announced proudly.

we took our time walking to the dorm building, both of us minding our own business.

there was this silence between us the whole time,

but i guess it was comfortable.

i turned on my phone, put in my earbuds and put on some music considering the fact that we still weren't close to our building.

"wait," hayes interrupted, "don't we have other classes."

"we don't have to go," i laughed.

he seemed kind of afraid, so i was quick to ask what was wrong.

"i don't know if i want to get in even more trouble today," he said nervously, scratching the back of his head.

"they're not gonna do anything, trust me," i assured him, "they're losing so many students, and it's not like they're gonna assign any homework."

"how can you be so sure?" he asked.

"well, it's been the same thing year after year, and if there was any homework my roommate would probably do it for me," i replied confidently.

"she really cares, huh?" he smiled.

"well, she's been my friend since forever. she's been here as long as i have." i truly admired claudette, she did more for me than i ever deserved.

"sounds nice," he muttered.

we were back to our comfortable silence.

we finally reached our building, and it was completely vacant.

"do you wanna go to my room?" i asked.

"do you think i can?" he trailed off.

"seriously? come on!" i replied, grabbing his wrist and taking him upstairs.

the dorm building was monochromatic, along with the rooms.

i entered my dorm, which was the fourth one on the right.

"welcome to casa lombardi-lopez," i smiled widely, i was proud of my room.

"are you kidding," he gaped.

"claudette is into the whole interior design thing, i just live here," i grinned.

hayes quickly jumped onto my neatly made bed, messing up all the pillows and sheets.

"hayes!" i shouted.

all he did was smile evily while chucking a pillow at my head.
