i shook all those thoughts from my head.
"woah, sorry. i zoned out," i laughed nervously.
"it's fine," hayes whispered, closing his eyes.
i can't like him..
i don't like anyone, that won't change.
-
"claire, you missed- oh," claudette yelped, "who is this?"
she stared frantically at hayes, who was still sleeping on my bed.
"this," i smiled proudly, "is hayes."
"what is he doing on your bed," she hissed, "did you drug him?"
by now, she was pacing around the room with her hands massaging her temples.
"no, chill out," i laughed, "we were just hanging out and he fell asleep."
"what was he even doing in a girl building?" she asked.
"he lives in this building," i trailed off, "don't tell him i told you!"
"i won't," she bit her nails, "how do we get him out?"
"do we have to?" i pleaded, "he's not even bothering you, he's asleep."
"que manera de decir lo obvio!" she whisper-yelled, "what if the RA comes and checks on us?"
"you know she never does! i don't even know what his room number is," i explained.
she paced further around the room before looking up at the "loft" at the top of our room.
"if we get him up the ladder, then we can just hide him!" i exclaimed.
claudette furrowed her eyebrows in concentration before her phone rang, and she picked up.
"yeah?" she answered sassily.
"what!"
"okay, thanks for letting me know!"
she hung up before glaring at hayes.
"we need to get him on that loft, or in his room, ahora!"
"why?" i asked lazily, flipping through claudette's advanced biology textbook.
"the RA is making rounds! heather just told me, and they already finished the building ahead of ours!" she panicked.
"calm down," i laughed, "we can just wake him up."
"maldita! you couldn't tell me that before!" she yelled.
"woah, woah, woah! what does maldita mean?" i raised my eyebrows in amusement.
hayes then rolled over, "bitch."
claudette pointed at him, "that."
"hayes, we need you to get out. like now," i said.
claudette checked her phone again, "they just finished the last room downstairs."
she smiled bitterly, "OUT!"
hayes ran out within 3 seconds, leaving us there relieved.
"how does that even work?" she cried.
"what," i said absentmindedly.
"does he have a female roommate? that's sick," she complained while fixing up some frames on her desk.
"no, he requested a single dorm. they must have forgotten that this is a female building," i plopped down on my bed, "or maybe they just thought he looked like a girl, idioti."
"and what does idioti mean?" claudette smirked.
"idiots," i stated matter-of-factly.
"i didn't know you spoke..." she trailed off.
"italian," i scoffed, "incompetenti."
"the beauty of the italian language, is that it's not very hard to understand," she laughed, "you called me incompetent, clueless even."
"yeah, yeah. whatever," i shut my eyes.
shortly after, someone decided to knock on the door- obnoxiously.
"resident assistant!" someone yelled.
the RA.
i decided to feign sleep and let claudette deal with the snobby woman.
