The Order

Everybody around me has been real sick lately, I'm trying my best not to think much into it but ever since I'd FINALLY gotten the confidence, time and money to have fun. It seemed as though everything was against me going out the house this weekend as doing things outside of working or being at home was a crime. No Jess you can't think like that you have to think positive! ugh positive dammit! I thought to myself trying to get ahold of myself. It took me a sec but I was able clear my mind and refocus my attention on what was more important at the moment: the next customer.

                                          ___________________________________________

Now I would have never thought of a country guy to be my type but today must have been an exception. At first sight I was; confused, unsure, but most DEFINETLY stunned, it seemed as if he was trying to give off a hipster vibe with his tattoos and (sorta) long choppy ginger hair and piercings but when I'd glanced (very quickly) at his arms his tattoos gave off a completely different vibe, which surprisingly went with the whole outfit, it's as if two completely different opposite concepts that you'd think wouldn't mesh well ended up becoming something literally stunning, this was one of those moments. He looked around my age, well maybe a little older but I wasn't really sure.

It was as if he could tell i was staring at him, not in expectation of an order but maybe something more? He'd caught me red-handed checking him out, ugh great my day just got a WHOLE lot better, I tried to look away at anything, I turned my attention to the tortilla's, pushing my cap down to hide my embarrassment I went to meet him for his order "Next.. . ." I said shyly.

He came up smiling really cute starting his order "Hello, I'd like to have tacos" "What meat would you like?" I asked getting the tortilla's ready, "Carne asada" He answered, I started putting the meat in trying to focus, but it was hard, i was starting to fumble across the rest of the order, ugh his eyes seemed to be following my every move, well who's bright idea was it to make Chipotle workers make the damn food in front of the customer? I'd like to have a word with them. "Um I think you forgot the guac" he said interrupting my daily dose of overthinking the heck of what SHOULD be a simple order, "oh right, I'm- I'm so sorry about that, I'-I'll fix that" I stammered, great just great way to go Jesse! "no worries,, take your time if you have to" he replied with a warm patient smile.

I'd only known the guy for like what? five minutes and I'm already blushing cause of him! wow what a new low, lower than my usual simping for random anime dudes edits, this was low.

                                                  _______________________________

"It'll take a while to warm up since our oven is a bit off" I said putting the order in the warm furnace, which seemed like a great place to be instead of being caught gawking at this very very, and well darn may I say VERY well looking customer, I attempted a smile which must have startled him cause he looked surprised, but then a second later he chuckled, I for sure blushed, with on hundred percent certainty DID blush, trying to look away trying to cool my face "Y- You can wait by booths for your order" I suggested while completely ignoring eye-contact with the guy, "Um sure" he replied kindly, I saw him walking off and bam!

it clicked to me, I didn't get his name, OH. MY. FREAKING. GOSH!!!!!!

I quickly turned around , thankfully he wasn't that far just in enough distance to call out to him, "hey! what's your name?" I asked, he turned to me looking confusingly bewildered, I was pretty sure I didn't stutter and say anything stupid, so I stood there waiting for what seemed like 10 seconds before he finally answered back "oh um. . . ." he coughed then cleared his throat " It's um, it's Adam." He continued giving a weak smile before walking off to a waiting booth, umm ok? that was suspicious I thought to myself as I turned back to the oven waiting for his order, Adam. . . . . . that suits him.

                                                       _______________________________

"For Adam!" I yelled out to the waiting booth area, in a matter of seconds the guy I'd been acting a total fool in front of for what seemed longer than necessary was now standing in front of me taking his food, I smiled and apologized for the mistake I'd made on his order again then smiled "Ah don't worry about it! Thanks um. . . . " his paused, looking at me more intently, did I have something on me? ugh of all days!??? Please not in front of this cute guy! I was internally screaming while physically putting on a front of professionalism to keep my job, hoping he was just looking at something else to buy so that I could get another chance to converse with this guy I was nervous but fought back the urge waiting for him to finish speaking "Jess."

What? Did I hear wrong? It sounded like he said my name? Ah. .

Then it clicked to me; my name tag, I smiled kinder this time which probably looked worse than Chuckle's smile on his wedding day a bit disappointed he wasn't calling me that for anything of endearment but rather just out of gratitude over a plate of warmed up tacos, I answered with what I'd hope sounded somewhat like friendly and not as if I'd cashier zoned "No problem, please come again!" but like no seriously please do come again

"Maybe I could." He chuckled "great have a nice day" I exclaimed biting back the urge to let my bitterness of my inability to flirt or make it seem to him that I thought he was cute, I'm just a cashier, nothing more to him, wow I really am a jo- "It'd be nice if I could spend the rest of it with you."

Adam had once again interrupted my inner dialogue but this time I was still, completely still, no that's not the right choice of words, I was amazed, confused, surprised, confused but then finally. . . .Happy.

I smiled then giggled "what exactly do you mean by that Adam" I tried not to cringe but I was hoping I hadn't taken what he said the wrong way, "Like um well I don't know, tell me when you finish work and I'll pick you up for a movie maybe?" He suggested, phew I taken it the right way for once overthinking has paid off for me! I smiled for real this time my eyes were fluttering and I was in a full on blush flustered and all.

"I get off at five." I answered

"So in about three hours" Adam pointed to his apple watch

"Just about" I agreed

"C-cool"

"Cool"

"See you then?"

"See you then." I copied

"It's a date!" He exclaimed

I nodded in agreement covering my face with my cap so I wouldn't see my co-workers reaction to this very strange yet AMAZING interaction. Maybe not having plans for this weekend it wasn't so bad after all.
