It was a peaceful afternoon...It was raining lightly, the cold breeze hitting my face. It was the weather perfect for reading a book, drinking a coffee and listening to classical music.
I settled on my bean bag situated infront of my window. Flipping through the pages of my book getting immersed in the story as I read "struggling for breathe the man fell on the floor, trying desperately to stop the flow of blood as it continued to seep through his hand." Just before I could read the next paragraph, my sisters-my older and youngest sister bolted through my door.
"Sleep over!" My younger sister said. My older sister smiled following her.
"It's only 1 in the afternoon" I told them with a slight frown. They interrupted my reading session. My little sister's shoulder dropped and I sighed.
"Fine, you can start building our fort." I said defeated and my older sister came over, settling beside me and I turned to her.
"Mom hasn't come home yet?" I asked. She frowned for a second before smiling a bit and nodded.
"Sure she'll be back before she notices it." She said and glanced at our little sister who was busy with setting up my bed. I only nodded to her.
A moment of silence when her phone pinged. Indicating she received a message. I didn't want to pry so I distracted myself with my book, trying to continue where I have left off. With furrowed brows, mouth slightly agape and fearful eyes she held her phone tightly making me turn my attention to her. Worried, I asked her "what is it?" She was hesitant at first but she knew I wouldn't drop the topic off unless she told me and so she did. Trembling a bit, she handed me her phone.
"Hi, it's been awhile. See you soon:)"
I cursed under my breath, I looked at her worriedly before hugging her, whispering "It's gonna be alright, I'm here" to her ear and she hugged back. Holding onto my hoodie like it would save her life. I cursed in my head and the reason why my sister was feeling this way. He was back. The son of a bitch creep who stalked her who...just by thinking about it makes my blood boil. She broke the hug after whispering a thank you and she stood up.
"I'll just help her setting up the fort." She said and I nodded, before standing up and went for my door.
"I'll be in the kitchen. You guys can sleep while I bake cookies." I said and smiled. My younger sister squealed excitedly before squirming under her blanket making us smile.
"We can do it later. We'll help." My older sister said and I waved my hands off. Smiling to her I said it was fine. "The last thing I want is this house burning to the ground." I teased her and she rolled her eyes at me.
"That was years ago!" She defended after I reminded her of the incident years ago when she was trying to melt the chocolate on the microwave and forgot about it.
"Yeah right." I said and insisted that she would rest.
I hurried down the stairs and hurriedly closed and locked all the windows and doors. I had a bad feeling about this.
I went to the kitchen, looking for my wood cutting axe along with the kitchen knife putting them together beside me as I started preparing for the cookie dough.
Just when I was grabbing the chocolate, I heard something snap. Without thinking twice, I ran to the door and held it tightly. Seconds later, someone was banging the door and I held it more tightly. Fuck this is why I was asking mother to replace this useless door.
The banging continued until silence. I turned to the other door being pushed slightly open. Looking down, I saw the lock being cut into pieces. I cursed multiple times before running to the door and saw no one.
Where the fuck was the intruder? My heart hammered crazily inside my chest as I thought of my sisters upstairs peacefully sleeping. I ran to the kitchen, grabbed the kitchen knife I got earlier.
I ran upstairs and found the intruder trying to open the last door in the hallway which was my room. I felt relieved for once that this house was massive, full of doors and I chose the furthest room. As the intruder was busy fiddling the door, and thank fck I locked the door before I left. Slowly walking towards the intruder, raising my knife ready to swing he looked back and our eyes met. Those eyes, the same fucking eyes I saw in the court, glinting with no regret. Remembering how my sister cried so hard, day and night. My blood instantly boiled and ran for it. Swinging my arms and aiming the knife at him. Taken aback by my sudden action, he was late to move away making the knife land to his shoulder.
He stumbled at bit and I took that opportunity to stab the knife once more stabbing his other shoulder. He fell to the ground and I grabbed his feet, putting the knife between my teeth, I started dragging him away from my room. I reached the stairs and that was when he moved and kicked me. I had a good grip of his feet , falling down the stairs and dragging him with me.
My head felt like being broken into two as I try to feel my head looking for possible cuts. I tried to ignore the pain and went on to search for the knife that was nowhere in sight. As I was about to crawl away, I felt a hand, yanking my hair causing pain to my already bleeding head- I figured it was bleeding earlier but ignored it.
"This wasn't part of the plan, if you didn't meddle in my affairs, you wouldn't be hurting...no one would be hurt. Everybody is happy." He whispered to my ear while pointing the knife on my neck and started dragging me down the stairs by my hair.
I didn't do anything nor said anything, I let him drag me whenever the fuck he wanted to be. Dragging me to the kitchen where my unfinished and uncooked cookie was. Thinking I was nowhere in shape to fight back, he let me go and put the knife down the counter beside my axe and went to the sink. Slightly standing up, I grabbed the knife, crawled slowly and stabbed the back of his tight causing him to fall. Running away and grabbing my axe in a hurry, he was able to catch my leg causing me to fall flat on my face.
Tucking the axe in my stomach, I laid still and again he was grabbing my hair forcefully making me scream, I started clenching my teeth after remembering my sisters upstairs, afraid that they might wake up.
"Bitch" he said and under my breath I was able to say "likewise" with that, he forcefully turned me around and without the momentum, I sloppily swung my axe landing to his head. The side blade of the axe made contact with his head knocking him off. I slowly got up, swinging my axe one more time like a baseball bat and the next thing was him lying unconscious with blood gushing out of his temple.
I sighed, walking to the sink I tuned off the faucet that was left running and headed to the tray of cookies I made earlier and put them in the oven. Finally, I turned my attention to the bastard lying on my kitchen floor woth his blood almost bathing in it. I cringed at the sight, I was definitely not cleaning that with our mop and so I started dragging him across it, making his clothes absorb most of it. Before the bastard creates more mess with his blood, I dragged him across the kitchen to the back door where out backyard was.
We had no neighbors, and it was a convenience. No more prying to my business, no more unnecessary socialization and small talks like we actually care for each other.
Dropping the bastards body in the open, I started gathering firewood and started chopping them. After a few minutes of chopping wood and maybe a pew parts of the bastards body, I was ready for a camp fire.
It was hard to start the fire with the few rain drops and strong winds but I made it work. I started the fire and slowly it started growing bigger. I looked up to the sky before turning my head towards our house and focusing my eyes towards the window of my bedroom.
There stood my older sister, staring at me with her eyes void of any emotions. The last thing I saw was her back as she started walking away from the window and a thunder roared across the cry.
I woke up feeling light headed. I roamed my eyes around my bed room and only saw my little sisters sleeping soundly. I got out from my bed and went down finally seeing my sister taking out the freshly baked cookies.
"You're awake" she said and my eyes landed on the towel that was draped over the kitchen sink. The kitchen was clean and my things were back in place.
Thank goodness she didn't burned the house down."You almost burned the house." She said, humor gone in her voice as her eyes landed on to the back yard.
I did?
