It was a hot, muggy day in the town
nicknamed "sunshine city".
The city famous for its flowers and sunshine.
Sunshine city would attract folks state wide to enjoy its weather, and marvel at the miles of flowers. The locals were all charming people. The seniors would sit out on their porches in their rocking chairs, drinking sweet tea and enjoying the gossip, The adults were hard working, humble people, The children were carefree and happy. Dancing, Singing and playing "ring around the Rosie" in a field of Daisies, but one child, was very peculiar.

Her name, was alice. Alice liked to read stories, fairy tales and adventures most often. She would read under a hill, in the shade of a big cherry blossom tree, in a swing. The children were an awful sort to her, Some children would snatch her books from her fingers and toss them into the pond. Some children would call her awful names and laugh in her face. Though Alice was fragile, she was strong. Once a child called Alice by her most HATED word. "Freak"
Alice got up, closed her book, and socked him right in the nose. To which He ran off, crying to his mother which they would complain to their mothers,(the seniors) thus starting the gossip.

Alice's mother was a kind, understanding woman. She was a gardener. Often rumoured magic. Maybe it was the way she whispered to the crops encouragable words, telling them not to be shy and grow. Maybe it was because she never wore shoes and let her hair grow down to her waist and danced in the rain.
No one ever knew.

Every two weeks or so, Alice's mother went into the city to sell her crops, most of her customers were seniors...so when she had learned of her daughters act, she sat under the tree and pulled Alice into her lap, caressing her in the most loving way, she smiled and said " Don't anyone get you down Alice, and if they do. Sock them in the gut. But remember, There will always lie a rainbow beyond the storm.".
Not understanding her mothers metaphor whatsoever, she nodded and Kissed her mothers cheek.
"I love you mommy"
"I love you too Alice"

Alice's father was a respectable man. A scientist by the name of, Dr. Ethan Vincent Isaac Logan, ( a mouthful right?) went to work at the lab Every day for 23 years. But nobody knew what this man did behind closed doors...
