My screen time is ludicrous today –
How is it that five hours and twenty minutes of my day,
Has been spent eyes trained on the screen of time waste central.
I watch the lives of people I don't know,
My eyes sore from looking at the blue light first thing this morning.
I feel a sense of wasted time,
My energy zapped from me to fuel the ever-present light of the screen.
Change needs to come lest I am forever stuck in the worlds
Of others, of games and pictures and reels and community notice boards.
How is it that my mind -
cannot be quietened without the stimulus provided by social media?
I have books
knitting
a house to tidy
dishes calling to be cleaned and returned to their shelf
clothes that desire washing
dinner
shopping
suduko
Yet the phone seems to draw to my hand before any of those others do.
Conscious thought must be put now -
into choosing from the myriad of more stimulating
calming
relaxing
beneficial
pastimes. Ones to enrich rather than to
zap.
