cw: panic attack (which I hope I portrayed correctly)
---------
Jevil couldn't sleep after this realization. How could he? The thought that he could've had romantic feelings for someone he's been friends with for years was absurd. He didn't know why these feelings had to come up now of all times! If he truly was in love with the fluff-filled cat, wouldn't he have realized at this point? Was he that much of a pathetic babyman to get these feelings after a SINGLE nickname was given to him?!
Jevil takes a deep breath, and sits up, slowly letting that breath out. No, he wasn't a pathetic babyman. Far from it. He and Seam were a duo, inseparable, a pair that cannot be compared. They were powerhouses in terms of entertainment within the Dark World. Not just from the lack of competition, but also from the fact that their acts would put the audience in awe. And he couldn't do that without Seam.
But aside from their work, Jevil soon began to realize that they were inseparable too. Before the start of the prank war, he and Seam would always eat lunch during breaks, discuss potential plans for what they could do, and even gossiped about their co-workers. He smiles as he thinks back on the time where they were planning on subtly poke fun at an annoying Hathy that was bragging about everything she had, including a new relationship she got into, but then she had a messy breakup, so they decided to make a good prank instead. Surprise her with chocolates and a hand-made message to make her a bit happier. Seam even knitted her a sweater, even if it was a size bigger than her. She didn't seem to particularly care, as she wore that every day once she got it, at least until the King berated her for it. He's pretty sure she keeps it around in her closet.
There were a lot of memories to reminisce on, really. Maybe he was always so caught up in the present that he never really considered his past with Seam. He's always been a hyperactive and joyful guy, finding entertainment in even the most dire of situations, but when he's face with a situation like this that has no real punchline, he can't do any setup. He can't pull any tricks, not on himself. He felt a bit... Powerless, in a way, Afraid. He began to worry on what Seam would think if he found out, would there be ridicule? Will his reputation be ruined? Is Seam even gay?!
The jester shakes his head to clear his thoughts. He was going down a spiral again, he needs to stop. Seam wouldn't do that. He's the nicest guy he knows, and it gets in his way sometimes. Jevil has to come in and be the mean and sharp side for the cotton-filled doll, just so he doesn't become a sentient doormat people walk all over. He lies down again, attempting to calm himself down and bringing himself back to reality, hugging a pillow.
As he hugs the pillow and buries his face in it, he thinks on how nice it'd be if it was Seam he was hugging. His fluffiness would trump over anything else. Even a literal cloud wouldn't compare to his best friend (though this title is still in debate). He felt a longing to be as close to him as he can, to be with him at all times, in more ways than just being the bombastic duo that audiences know and adore. He wanted to be closer. Even if Seam was always there for him all day, he still misses him in the smallest of moments.
Seam made him feel safe, he made him feel complete and at peace, a place where he can reliably settle down and breathe... No fear of losing anything. It was how they decided to work together, after all.
After Jevil stepped in for Seam when he was getting berated by people and walking him home, he realized that they were high-ranking officials. People who could easily end people's entire livelihoods in mere seconds. He started to panic, tears welling up as his mind began to paint a vivid and horrible future for him, overcoming every thought he had. His chest felt like someone had drilled a hole into it. He felt like he couldn't breathe, and nearly collapsed then and there. He expected Seam to leave, to not risk being associated with someone like that.
But he didn't.
Seam didn't leave him behind. Instead, he stayed by his side, sitting down and grounding him with his touch, holding the jester's hand with his. Although Jevil couldn't fully understand him, he was just glad that someone was there for him. Telling him that things were going to be okay, that he wasn't crazy for feeling like this. He felt himself start to calm down, the cacophony of despair slowly leaving, holding onto Seam a bit.
As Jevil relived this moment in his past, he had to wipe some tears off of his face. Seam... Cared about him. He really did. This wasn't some fleeting feeling after being given affection, it was a realization that he had a history with him. He and Seam stuck close to each other after that, quickly becoming friends, rising through the royal ranks and eventually, becoming known all over the Dark World. They went through a lot to get to where they are. And he's certain that simply being in love wouldn't ruin that by one bit. The worst that Seam could say is no. "That lovable fluffball can't even hurt a fly." He said out loud, letting out a small laugh.
He lets out a sigh, looking out the window for a moment. The night sky looked beautiful. Even if he was a Darkner, he still appreciated the small stars that existed. He wanted to appreciate things more, to not worry as much. It'll be a long journey, but he's certain that he'll be able to grow and improve himself. Just like his performances. With Seam's help in both regards, nothing will be impossible!
But for now, he needs to live in the present, and get some sleep. He'll need it for the lessons he'll give for Seam. He's sure his dreams will give plenty of inspirations on how to prank his ass.
And so, with a small giggle and a smile on his face, Seam begins to rest. Tomorrow will be a new day of tricks. And it'll be all the more better with Seam by his side.
