The showroom is filled with chatter and contained excitement. Children of all shapes have come to watch a show they saved up their pocket money on. Even the Duke of Puzzles comes and watches! Although he tries to hide the fact he legitimately enjoys the show, he still comes. As the money is counted and the crowd settles into their seats, the lights fade, and the entrance music plays.
It starts with a slow beat of the Dunun drums, artifacts taken from the Lightners' world. The drummers play the beat slow, yet they leave a subtle hint that something is about to happen, something is coming.
Behind the purple curtains of the backstage area, a purple fluffy cat was fixing his button eyepatch. "I need to get this replaced." He muttered. "My cotton keeps falling off." He soon managed to adjust it correctly, and smiled. He fixed up the brown and gold striped suit he had been given by the show staff. His pants, which were the same color, are baggier than he wished. And he's a talking cat filled with cotton.
The beat picks up, the Dunun drums being beaten at a quicker pace. Trumpets are blown, creating an intense atmosphere, the airs of the showroom have changed suddenly, from suspense to excitement, as an entire band begins to march out. The crowd cheers, but their cries of joy will only be an appetizer for the show.
"Uee hee hee! Seam, you're such a downer!" A high pitched voice came from beside him. This voice had originated from a grey-skinned individual, baring a large smile with a mouth full of sharp teeth. He fixes the purple gloves on his hand, making sure his black and purple striped jester hat doesn't fall off. The cotton cat, who we now know is Seam, looks over to Jevil and pokes his large golden... Collar? I don't know the name of that thing. But it seems to be the holder of the black cape draped over his shoulders, and beneath that, another piece of clothing that has a purple motif and I can't find the name of. Anyways, Seam was focused on the big yellow thing.
"Why'd the court staff tell you to put that ridiculous thing on?" Seam asks curiously. Our jester-like friend simply shrugs, not seeming bothered by it. "Doesn't matter," he says, leaning back on his chair and putting his legs up on his table. "What's bothering me are these weird shoes." He gestures to his grey shoes with yellows painted onto the end. Seam cringes slightly. "Fair point." He said.
He fluffs up his fur as our jester friend prepares his tools. Without a command needed, they step up to the purple curtains hiding their act. The band recedes their performance. It goes silent. Everything goes silent. Seam turns to Jevil. "Ready to give them the time of their lives, Jevil?" He asked. The Jevil snickered and smiled at Seam, his sharp teeth showing. "You've said that every time we go out to the stage. Of course!" He announced with joy. And soon the two of them, synchronized, opened the curtains and greeted the crowd.
"LET US HEAR REJOICE!" They exclaim in unison. The crowd cheers. as the Magician and the Jester begin their act.
First they begin with simple magic tricks, which was lead by Seam. Seam gave out the simple ones, a few card tricks, a simple numbers hack, and a few other optical illusions. The second act was comprised of the Jester's jokes and gags, all of which made the audience roar with laughter and joy.
The final act was always a gamble though, not even the king knew what it was going to be. This time, their idea was to lock Seam inside a box. Jevil showed every inch of the box to the crowd, showing no signs of foul play. And soon, Seam is shoved, and so the Jevil shot several Diamond Cutters through the box. The crowd was speechless. The Jevil seemed to be fine, until he opened the box. He quickly giggled and slowly closed the box. "I, uh, think we have, uhm, uh, technical difficulties folks!" He said. The crowd began to worry. The Jevil looked very, very sad. Could this be a show gone awry? An innocent magic trick, meant to entertain a crowd for a few D$, gone horribly, horribly wrong? It seems so.
Until a young Rudinn shouted in fear, surprise and relief.
The spotlight drew to Seam, who was eating a Dark Burger casually. The entire showroom is filled with relief and everyone congratulates their performance. Soon, the showroom is empty.
Backstage however, Jevil kicked Seam in his cotton filled shins. "Ow! What was that for?!" Seam painfully wonders aloud, after being personally assaulted by the sharp-toothed trickster. "I thought you were actually dead, idiot! When I opened the box I found nothing but ripped up cotton and your clothes!" Jevil said, seeming angry. But he soon lightened up. He jumped onto Seam's shoulders and gave him a noogie. "You cotton filled dummy!" He said, laughing with his signature high pitch, as Seam complains that it hurts, even if it doesn't.
These two are just lovely little entertainers, aren't they? Just two buddies, working together to see a few happy smiles by the seats, watching families bring their children, talking about how great the show's gonna be, and how excited they are to see what the final act really is.
Well, that's merely one part of their lives. In another, they are warring rivals, constantly looking over their shoulders, feeling someone or something staring and plotting their downfall... And that downfall may consist of: Pie slamming onto one's face, crashing into a bunch of tape, a bucket of milk/water being dumped onto your head, and many more.
Yes, the war these two are fighting is not one of psychology, information, or terror. But it is of all those three things combined. The skill it takes to calibrate each other's movements after years of work is hard to do.
But sadly, Jevil is the reigning prankster and will forever be so, as shown in the break after the show.
Seam is laying on his bed, relaxing, his pajamas on and he's reading a good book. He's just trying to come up with new material for the next show scheduled. However, while in his delve into the literary arts, he hears clicking. Like the snapping of claws. He attempts to locate the source, and finds it to be from in front of his bedroom door. Being the curious cat he is, he decides to open the door. And is only met with what one could've expected, a small stick poking his foot, causing him to jump and hop with one foot in the air, and falling backwards because of a rope in the hallway, and then being dumped with [possibly tens of fish right onto his pajamas and face.
He just got these cleaned too!
Meanwhile, from down the hallway, as Seam screams in pure annoyance, Jevil is laughing his shoes off watching it. "IT WORKED!" He announced proudly. Jevil stepped out of the shadows and approached Seam with a smile. Seam is less than pleased. "Jevil... Why." He said, his tone flat, sounding tired. He slowly got up, wiping the fish off. "It's gonna take me ten showers to get the smell off."
"Uee hee hee! Hey, you can always prank me back!" Jevil responded. Seam rolled his eye at his words. "As if. You're impossible to prank. I can't even prank normal people." He said in an annoyed and flat tone, returning to his room, slamming the door. For once. Jevil felt... Upset. It seems he'll need to find a way to cheer Seam up. If there was.
For the rest of the day Jevil thought up of ways to lift Seam's spirits. He's thought of baking a cake, a surprise party, making himself look like an idiot... But nothing. Until, of course, he saw the Duke of Puzzles, Rouxls Kaards, teach a few of his would-be fans on how to puzzle. That's when he got the idea.
"I'll teach Seam how to prank!" He said to no one. So Jevil raced to his quarters, and slept, thinking of how he would give teachings (and perhaps more) to Seam.
(Phew! That's a lot of words. Hope y'all liked this!)
