Black History Month Anthology

Welcome to our Black History Month contest anthology with a dash of romance! This time we will be celebrating black storytellers and narratives of black characters. The Fantasy profile brings forward to you a skill-based writing contest with new rules and new rewards!

Pick up your pens and get ready to write down your next best story. Check out the cool prompts we have below and read the rules carefully before you submit.

♠︎ Prompt 1: The cupid's arrows are lost and people can not fall in love anymore. You, as a part of Mages, are sent to resolve the mystery.

♠︎ Prompt 2: The world has turned upside down for people who fall in love. Figure out who's trying to scare people away from love by using your elemental powers.

♠︎ Prompt 3: You're hit by a curse worse than death, the curse of hating your loved ones. Only a kiss of true love can treat you but how will they know?

♠︎ Prompt 4: You are taken into captivity by a soft-hearted vampire when you witness a killing in the woods. What happens next?

♠︎ Prompt 5: A runaway sorcerer's apprentice is accused of a crime they didn't commit. Who proves their innocence and how?

♠︎ Prompt 6: A fisherman's son, who has his heart captured by a siren princess, is given the task to retrieve a stolen ring of his king from the island of the sirens.

♠︎ All entries must adhere to Wattpad's Content Guidelines

♠︎ This contest is open to writers who identify as BLACK.

♠︎ Your entry MUST feature a BLACK MAIN CHARACTER.

♠︎ To make this contest a little more skill based, this time we will be only accepting entries written in THIRD PERSON.

♠︎ Your entry must have three NEW words written in this format (bold + italicized so that we can spot them easily) that you have discovered and used in your story.

♠︎ Your entry must be based on only one of the prompts given above.

♠︎ In order for your entry to be judged, please submit it through this form

♠︎ Entries must be submitted before the deadline: March 10, 2023 by 11:59PM EST.

♠︎ Your entry must be between 1500 – 3000 words.

♠︎ We do accept mature entries but they must adhere to .

♠︎ At this time, we are only accepting English entries as this is our only language capability.

♠︎ You may submit multiple entries to this challenge, however, only one of your entries can win.

♠︎ Your entry must be written specifically for this contest.

♠︎ You can publish your entry as a standalone or as part of an existing collection/anthology.

♠︎ Fanfiction is not permitted.

And this time all the participants will have their eligible entries which adhere to Wattpad's Content Guidelines be added to this anthology! So, even if you don't win, you'll be getting a spotlight with your story being a part of the anthology.

We'll be reaching out to everyone who submits their stories through your DMs if you have qualified as a suitable entry.
