Charlos – Short Prompt

Prompt: When they defend you in both Public and Private

Silverstone 2022, the day Carlos Sainz had reached the peak, is now a Grand Prix winner. He had tears in his eyes, he was not sure how it had happened but it did.

Everyone then congratulated him, his friends, the fans, and the other drivers, but he couldn't find Charles. Charles approached him and congratulated him a little before they had to go inside for weigh-in. The Spaniard knew he was guilty because he needed to overtake Charles's tires were out so a switch was needed.

The podium celebration was nice as always, but he missed having his teammate on the podium with him. Soon, when the event was done, he checked his phone, his family had sent them videos of them reacting to Carlos's win, and fans posting his celebration but we all know it was not all rainbows and sunshine. There were mean comments about how Carlos had stolen the victory from his teammate, costing Charles the championship points.

Soon the door of his motorhome was opened and he heard it, "Congrats Carlos!". Rushing to his arms as the other driver, jumped, pushing the air out of the Spaniard's lungs.

"Thank you, love". The way those dimples appear made his heart melt. However, at the same time, he felt immense guilt, "I'm sorry about your race". Charles nodded and let out a sigh, he was not going to lie, he was disappointed; there was no doubt about that, but somehow, it was not the first time so he was somehow gotten used to it. However, he was not going to be selfish, he looked back at Carlos and grinned, "But look, you won! Carlos Sainz is a Grand Prix Winner".

The two proceeded to cuddle, and despite they were still wearing their race suit, they just need each other right now, somehow Charles could feel the unease inside him as if Carlos isn't happy, was he still thinking of the guilt? When he pulled away, Carlos was somehow zoned out, until he heard the Spaniard's phone ping off the notification. Grabbing it, instantly knew the password, it was their number 5516.

"Charles, don't". Charles frowned as he saw the nasty comments, how, what, why? How dare they speculate such things, this is why Sebastian could never be in social media, these people could be so cruel, the two got used to this ever since but when it comes to their loved ones, Charles couldn't stand by it.

More importantly, they point out how Carlos's race was the cause of Charles's loss of the championship, his win was overshadowed by the fact that Charles was disappointed by it. "I'm sorry mate, this, this wouldn't happen if I didn't say anything, or look so angry I-".

"Charles, please, we knew this would have happened. I stole your light, when it was supposed to be your constant battle with Max, who am I to be interfering with you, I should be the one that brought you to victory". – Carlos.

"Carlos, please, there are times you should be selfish, when you needed that switch, I didn't mind, I knew my tires wouldn't go as far as yours, I am disappointed, that is the truth but how could I never be proud of you, you have been supporting me from the day we became teammates. You should be celebrated, not like this, let me just". The Monegasque then took out his phone and posted a picture of them and typed out the caption.

After a while, Charles then recorded a video of his reaction, saying how proud he was of Carlos, and despite his race, it was just like any other day in the office, as the two will continue to fight for the championship and endless support from the Tifosi will always help them.

The Spaniard almost melted on sight of the other continuing his speech but he was truly grateful for the day, so grateful to have someone like Charles by his side, he love the man so much, and his heart feel like it needed to explode. "Thank you".

"I will gladly tell the world to fuck off if I have to, I will defend your honor publicly and privately if I have to". – Charles.

"I feel the same".

"I love you".

"I love you too. Celebratory sex later?". A tiny pout from Carlos had Charles playfully smack his arm. "We have media duties remember? But I'm sure I could give you a preview of what's to come".

Carlos gulped in response, his face reddened more than the time during the race, and Charles got up, slowly got to his knees.
