CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF Persephone Jackson, or as she likes to be called, Karolina Ugianskyte, was not an idiot.

Sure, she likes aggravating all higher powers she comes in contact with, but that just comes naturally from being a headstrong Lithuanian girl.

But as well as that, she likes being in the know, so when she found out from the Gods that the reason that she was coughing up blood wasn't because of the 5 year old jar of pickles she found at the back of her cupboard, but in fact a result of her extended stay in tartarus, she was not a happy camper.

"What do you mean you have to turn me into a God, couldn't you just give me partial immortality or something?" Karolina was standing in front of the gods, stomping her foot like a child. She was aware she looked bratty and selfish, but she had fought in not one, but two wars for these ancient immortals and they just didn't get the memo when she said she wanted to be left alone, with no godly interference.

"Or something," Hermes chuckled quietly, seemingly very amused by Karolina's antics.

"The fact remains that tartarus has taken a turn on both your physical and mental health, not only that but the moment you got out of the pit you fought a primordial goddess and won; it was a miracle you haven't died sooner," Zeus was not amused by his niece; he had had a bad day already, Hera shouting at him this morning because he had left the oven on throughout the night, again.

"Well, at this point, death would be better because what do I have left? Realistically, I'm a 19-year-old drug addict with no friends left, and i'm definitely not endangering my sweet mother with my presence so that leaves you lot, and i'm not exactly ecstatic about that."

During the war, almost all her closest friends had been killed or deemed missing; the closest hitting death had been Annabeth. However, it hadn't been just any other monster who had taken out the fiery daughter of Athena, it was Gaia herself; all due to a misstep on Karolina's part. Had she noticed the hand of dirt crawling towards her, aimed to rip her heart out, Annabeth would still be with her. The young daughter of Athena had jumped in front of the hand, noticing what Karolina hadn't, sacrificing her own life as a result.

Although Annabeth's death was what took a toll on Karolina the most, the deaths of Piper, Jason, and assumedly Leo (at least at the time) were also hard hitting on the young girl. Both Piper and Jason took on the role of guiding the younger campers to safety, making sure that none of the children got hurt (although weren't they all still children?). In the effort to protect the masses of younger campers, they had failed to protect themselves and hence had died side by side, protecting who they thought were more worthy of life than themselves (but they were all just kids fighting a loosing battle).
