"Don't just stand there! Get your icky gross friend…" Donnie all but screamed. "Off! Of! Me!"
Leo nodded, arms grabbing his gravely injured turtle companion and lifting him up. Well not exactly lifting as Indigo is much heavier than he looks. He grit his teeth, planting his feet firmly to the medbay floor and tried again. He could barely lift the shorter turtle.
His limbs were quivering from the strain. Why were people so much heavier unconscious? Donnie's squirming was not helping matters. "Raph! A little help here!" Leo shouted at the top of his lungs, already hearing the thundering footfalls of his older brother.
Donnie was pushing up against Indigo's chest while Leo held him up. "So how did you meet this guy anyway?" The softshell asked, his voice strained.
"He's one of the top fighters in the Battle Nexus."
"Oh so that explains this…" Donnie held up a hand, the palm smeared with sticky blood. It was a frightening mix of yellow, green and the dark crimson that blood should be. "Icky gross ew this is so…I need a shower…" Leo only grunted, trying not to gag. He could taste the metallic scent on his tongue with every breath.
There was a sudden rush of intense vibrations, shaking the medbay. Both turtles turned to see their big brother racing towards them.
"Leo? Donnie?" Raph audibly gasped, a hand flying up to cover his mouth. His brown eyes were wide with horror at the bloody, unconscious, turtle between his two brothers. "Oh god-"
"Put him on the cot, carapace up. I need to fix the crack in his shell." Leo instructed, handing Indigo to Raph. The snapper was about to pick up the smaller turtle before Leo stopped him. "Gently, very gently and try not to touch his left shoulder too much. It got badly dislocated and is still fragile. Raph nodded.
He oh so carefully picked up Indigo with ease, cradling him like an infant before gently laying him plastron down onto the cot. Donnie instantly squirmed away, grimacing at the partially dried blood smeared onto his body.
The crimson stained medical tape was peeled off, the gauze removed from inside the crack. Another gasp came from Raph, this one much more worried. A strangled gag came from Donnie, whose mouth was covered and his face was considerably more green.
The slider took a breath, scrambling to the sink to scrub his hands clean before he could begin.
"Donnie-" At the look on the softshell's face, it was obvious that he was five seconds away from puking. He blinked nervously at Leo, weakly pointing to the massive crack in Indigo's shell. "Go empty your guts and wait in the living room." Donnie nodded, scrambling out of the medbay.
As Leo was pulling gloves over his hands, a big hand settled on his shoulder. "What do you need me to do?" The blue clad turtle glanced back at his patient, who looked far, far too still on the cot.
"The drill, screws and wires are in the second cabinet on the far wall, the fiberglass patches in the top shelf and the resin in the fourth drawer. Get all that then wash your hands in the sink!" Raph hurried over to the cabinet.
Leo grabbed a bottle of wound cleaning solution, some cotton balls and some cotton ball forceps. After tearing open the bag of cotton balls with so much force that several fell to the floor, he soaked one in the solution and began dabbing it inside the cracked shell.
There was a twitch from Indigo at first contact but Leo kept going. He glanced over a few times, his stomach clenching at the pained look on Indigo's face. But it had to be done or the crack would get so damn infected so quickly.
"I got the stuff!" Raph half yelled, setting everything down on a nearby table before rushing to the sink. Leo nodded as he thoroughly disinfected the crack.
