Regret. Denial. Repudiation.
Something i'm accustomed to. Though I haven't seen the symptoms in years, now they have returned. They lie on the tip of my brain, threatening to corrupt my mind.
The last time I'd felt this way was years ago, before me and James left our asshole of a father. James being my older brother left him to take the mental and physical abuse that no child should have to endure. I felt tremendous regret over what he went through daily.
So much so, that I tried to help. In which the help of a 9 year old boy couldn't give.
Regret. Denial. Repudiation.

"Get me those reports." I rush through the halls of my company with James and my secretary trailing my heels.
"Yes sir, right away." Mani, my secretary, turns around and jogs into the elevator. As I reach my office door I reach my hand out to open it, but was abruptly stopped.
"So, what we're just going to pretend our company isn't in danger? Why aren't you doing anything? You own most of this company and that's why I'm trying to stick to your plans, but if you won't fight for our life's work, I will." James says in a frustrated tone and turns to leave before I can say anything.
I sigh and walk into my office, slamming the door behind me.
"Fuck." I sit in my chair behind my desk and pull out my phone which I've been watching like a hawk since Astoria left, waiting and hoping for a response to my many messages and calls.
-Astoria, please answer me.
delivered, Sunday-Bambina, when are you coming home?
delivered, Monday-Please.
delivered, TuesdayI scroll through the one sided conversations starting from Sunday. I debate with my mind on whether or not I should text again. I've been trying to give her space but I can't stop her face from completely taking over my mind.
Why is everything so compact right now? First, my asswipe father shows up out of nowhere, then Astoria leaves me, and now James is mad at me. I can't fucking take anymore. I need something. Something that'll take my mind off of everything.
I'm taken out of my thoughts when I hear yelling in the hall outside of my office door and jump out of my chair.
My door swings open and a cluster of people enter. The first person I recognize is Mani who happens to have a frantic and nervous expression written all over her face.
"I'm so sorry sir, I tried to stop him from coming up." I look at her confused until she's pushed out of the way by someone.
"Daddy's home." The blood drains from my face as I look at the man who abused me and my brother dead in his black emotionless eyes.
