Twenty minutes later, two young men, the applicants, that looked as the same age as Kyo arrived in his office. Atty Kaneko has his own way of hiring people. As a busy person, he got no spare time to strictly look at their resumes and dig their backgrounds. At a first glance, he could tell if someone has the potential. Aster already checked their backgrounds and made some suggestions. Starting from; how one should not only be good but also look good. How you represents yourself starts with how you make yourself look presentable in front of others. What Kyo needed is someone who could catch up with him easily.

I don't need too smart people, I prefer the wiser ones. Being wise is different from being smart. Some smart people could be sometimes dumb. But some dumb people could be wiser than the smart ones.

"Mr. Kaneshiro, are your parents both Filipinos?" Kyo asked the first applicant. Yes, he thinks randomly but he is a sensible person. He won't start questions that won't make sense afterwards.

The young man named Luca Kaneshiro was surprised. He expected that the lawyer would ask him the most common thing during interview. The 'Why should I hire you?' rituals and such.

"No sir. Both my parents are Australians but I can speak Tagalog well. They both own a travel agency" Luca replied politely. The confusion in his eyes were still very obvious as to why such question was delivered to him.

"I assume that you were exposed with other foreign people ever since you were little." Kyo concluded.

"Yes sir" Luca nodded two times.

"So you can communicate VERY WELL with foreign clients?" The lawyer stated, scratch that, he challenged him.

"I am confident, sir" He said affirmatively.

"You're hired." The lawyer said which made Luca surprised. Most of their clients were foreigners. Tourists who lose their passports, jewelries and passbooks. If Luca would be the one sitting on the front desk, given the fact that he is good looking too, the lawyer needed not to worry anymore. Every conversation should begin with good communication.

Right after Luca's interview, the second applicant went inside.

"Good afternoon, Atty." The young man in white formal outfit greeted.

He's quite the timid type. I wonder what is he capable of? Kyo thought.

"Mr. Shu Yamino, are you sharp with numbers?" He asked the applicant while looking at Shu Yamino's files.

"Yes sir" He answered politely. The lawyer reached for a long bondpaper from the printer. He wrote down numbers: 10.9 , -13, 15.5 and 10.5. Then he drew a square.

He showed the drawing to Shu and explained.

"You have 4 choices. I'll give you two minutes to find out the answer." The lawyer stated.

Shu's eyes were now focused on the drawing. Kyo haven't made the question yet but he could tell that Shu was already thinking the possible answers.

Advance thinker: check!

"The square has an area of 121 meter squared-" He started. He drew a diagonal line from one corner of the square towards the opposite corner and resulted with two right triangles.

"Can you give me the exact length of the hypotenuse of one triangle in the given illustration?" Kyo asked. He gave Shu Yamino a smirk that says: That is right, this is a challenge. But the younger just gave him a calm smile.

"Your two minutes start now" The lawyer said and waited how Shu would deal with the situation. The young man held the ballpen and Kyo waited for him to show his solution.

"This one is the answer, sir" Shu said with full confidence and pointed the number "15.5" using the pen. Shu was impressed with how accurate he was, but he wanted an explanation.

"Can you elaborate how you end up with the answer?" Kyo was curious. Did he solved it mentally? Or wisely? His answer is correct tho. Or is he just guessing?

"First, I was lucky to notice immediately the hint based on the given choices." Shu started.

"If I'd start solving, I might get distracted because this is an interview and I only have 2 minutes. Two minutes is good enough to solve the problem but I'm too nervous to concentrate." He began.

"So I needed to think of an alternative solution." He continued.

"Given that the area of the square is 121 meter squared, I just need to extract it's square root, which is 11." explained Shu and put number 11 on the four sides of the drawing.

"But, you asked for the hypotenuse of the triangle which needs the application of Pythagorean Theorem; which states that the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides. Or simply 'a' squared plus 'b' squared is equal to 'c' squared..." He paused.

He then smiled politely and continued, "...Just by writing the formula takes a lot of time. And I would rather give up."

"11 to the power of two is equal to 121, and another 11 to the power of two is equal to 121, sum them up and it becomes 242. And the square root of 242 is 15.55" He put down the pen after he finished explaining the natural solution which took more than two minutes.

"And what was your alternative solution to make your answer quicker and accurate?" Kyo got hooked by how interesting this young man is.

He smiled and said, "Sir, I have always put in mind that In a right triangle, one where one interior angle is 90°, the longest side is called the hypotenuse. From your given choices, 15.5 is the only number that is more than 11, where 11 is the one side of the triangle. The rest of the choices were lesser in value than the side"

Kyo felt goosebumps all over his body and approved that man's capability. Wise people always rise.

"Good job. You're a big hand for clients who sells their properties and making their contracts" Kyo smiled.

"Tell me, are you used to this kind of situation? Being able to think and make a decision in a very limited amount of time?" Kyo asked for the last time.

And he smiled with an answer that the lawyer really approved, "No sir. As young as I am, this is the first time. My intuition told me that this is a matter of survival and analytical thinking. Thank you for hiring me."

Kyo nodded and clapped his hands. He now have two skillful allies.

"Welcome to my team, Mr. Luca Kaneshiro and Mr. Shu Yamino"

The two bowed and returned the warm greeting with a smile.

"Let's all get along in the future. I will give you your schedules right away and we could talk about other matters later on"

Both felt satisfied and left the office afterwards.

Atty. Kyo looked at the mirror and smiled, "Aster"

"Yes, Atty?"

"Don't you think things are gonna get interesting these days?"

The secretary just smiled and nodded.

Kyo had been entertaining himself for long but he could not think freely anymore since the day Ren Zotto showed up in his life.
