2012

"Y/N, I have to be honest with you." he muttered breathlessly. "This isn't going anywhere, and it is easy to see."

How is this really happening?

Everything seemed so good until now. That is, until you looked into his eyes and the love that is usually embedded was gone, or at least faded away.

Why?

"If that is how you really feel, the last thing I want is to work for something you clearly don't want anymore." you relayed, with the hope of a response much different than his previous statement.

The space between us was growing by the second and the look upon his face was mundane.

"I love you but..." Ouch, okay. I didn't need that right now.

"I think we..I..I need something else. Something more."

More than me? What am I lacking?

You start to feel the tightening of your chest increase as the reality of the situation starts to penetrate your defenses.

It is over.

You decide to take one more look at him and all the features that were mine to explore for 2 years. You need to start walking away before you break down. You already feel weak...I don't need him to see how much this is already impacting me.

You don't look back at him, knowing it would only cause more pain to reside within your chest and introduce more nausea to your already queasy stomach.

Pulling open your car door seemed like so much more work than it had only an hour ago. Right as you slouch down into the worn driver-side seat, you feel a vibration come from within your pocket

Shit. It must be Y/B/F.

You totally forgot you had promised to go to a concert with her and her friends from college. You grasp my phone and see 4 texts and 1 missed call. Her caller ID shows up again and you swipe to answer as soon as possible.

"Hey, I am so sorry I missed your call and didn't respond to your texts." you try to speak in a way that won't give too much insight to your current situation and feelings. She wants to have fun tonight and you do not want to be the one to ruin it for her.

"Oh, it's okay! No worries. Just make sure to make it here on time!" She says with a tad of concern but her voice is mostly filled with excitement. It is understandable, she is about to see her favorite band in person. You try to be sympathetic but you don't know much about this band.

"Me and the rest of the group are already in the queue, and I am sure we could sneak you in with us."

You want to support her and who knows... maybe this will be good for you. It could be good to get out and let loose.

"Okay, sounds like a plan!" you say with forced exhilaration.

While pulling into the parking garage, you can already see a line queueing out the door and around the block.

Why do people care so much about this band and the members in it? All you have heard about the band is that the frontman is "attractive", very political, and self-absorbed. You roll your eyes while you think to yourself "sounds like a recipe for fun."

You start to trek past everyone in the queue, keeping an eye out for Y/B/F. While you're looking for her distinct bright blue hair, you keep getting distracted by all the fan girls screaming anytime they see someone walk by the small touring van that is parked near by. They are screaming a plethora of names. Odd names like "Marty", and "Matty".
