Beep! Beep! Beep!
-
What a grating sound to wake up to but I'm use to it by now. Especially after 14 years of service. I opened my eyes and turned off my timer on my watch. Has it been an hour already? Yep.. It's 1600, meaning I have an hour to get to the conference room.
-
Sitting up, I pushed my hand through my locks of hair. I stood up and pulled my hair up to get ready. Remember Y/N. First impressions matter. I decided to clean myself up and made myself look professional enough. I tightened my boot laces and brushed myself off.
-
I had opened my door and was met by a young man. I figured it was Gaz due to the lack of muttonchops and lack of a facial covering.
-
"You must be Lieutenant Y/N. I'm Kyle Gaz. Nice to meet you." He said, saluting me. I didn't care for being saluted outside of a formation but I guess he was trained to salute higher ups.
-
"Nice to meet you, hun. But you don't need to salute. I'm not a hard ass when it comes to that."
I chuckled and stuck my hand out with a smile as Gaz shook it. He seems excitable.
-
Hm. How cute.
-
"You want to be my tour guide on the way to the meeting?" I playfully asked him, chuckling at his nervous reaction.
-
Gaz quickly nodded and nervous stumbled through his words. "Y-Yes. I would uh... love to show you a-around, Miss Y/N." He said, rubbing his neck.
-
Oh... This could be fun messing with him.
-
Walking by him, I tapped his cheek gently with a smile. "Let's begin shall we?" I said, starting to walk as I heard fast footsteps behind me, knowing Gaz was running to catch up. I chuckled a bit but a cold feeling washed over me.
-
A large man walked past us, casting a shadow over me. I looked at the man and saw the skull mask on his face, realizing who he was. It was the one and only Ghost. As he passed by, I could feel his gaze on me. It felt so chilling. Right down to the bone.
-
"Sergeant Gaz.." He said to Gaz to acknowledge him.
-
His voice was deep and rough. But to me, it sounded almost... comforting and reassuring. Like it was familiar. That can't be right. I've never met this man before though. I shook this feeling off as I watched Gaz greet Ghost.
-
"Hello Lieutenant. This is-."
-
"I know who she is, Gaz." Ghost said, cutting the poor kid off. "I'll see you both at the meeting." He said, walking off before any of us could say anything back.
-
Well that was fucking rude. I rolled my eyes and continued to walk with Gaz. "Hey Gaz? Tell me about Ghost." I said, not even turning my head to look at him.
-
Gaz caught up to me, walking beside me. "Uh. I don't think I can. He's not very talkative nor does reveal much about himself. Just like his name, you can't really explain what he is. It's like he doesn't exist really."
-
I stopped and chuckled a bit. "Oh honey. He does exist. Just like real ghosts. Just because you cannot see them, doesn't mean that they are not there or don't exist." I said to him as he nodded to agree with me.
-
We reached the conference room with about 15 minutes to spare. A British man with muttonchops came over to greet us.
-
"Gaz. I see you met Y/N already." He said with a chuckle, shaking my hand.
-
"Please. Call me Reaper, sir." I said back to him, shaking his hand back. He smelled of cigars but that didn't bother me at all. I was use to the smell throughout the years.
-
Price smirked and nodded, gripping the straps of his vest. "Have you met the others, Reaper?"
-
I gave him a nod and crossed my tattooed arms. "Yes I have. Gaz, Soap and Ghost. Most were very welcoming." I explained to Price. Price got visibly confused but realized who I was talking about.
-
Speak of the devil. In walks Ghost, leaning in the doorway with his large arms crossed across his wide chest that was covered in his usual gear. I could feel his cold eyes on my body again. Out of all people, he stares at me. Is he obsessed with me? Or does he hate me already. Damn. That's a new record.
-
Accidentally locking eyes with him, I felt like we were the only ones in the room. I could feel my heart beating in my throat, unable to speak. His predator like stare had me trapped.
-
I didn't snap out of it until Soap came over, putting his arm around my shoulder with a smile. "Hey LT!" He said and looked down at me. I smiled a little and looked at Ghost once again.
-
His demeanor had changed. His chest was rising and falling pretty heavily as if he was angry. It was like he didn't want Soap to touch me. Like he was being territorial. Ghost walked over as Soap let go of me. He towered over me and looked down at me. His eyes sent a feeling of nervousness through me.
-
"Let's get this meeting started." He said to us but didn't take his eyes off of me. He turned and walked to the others. I didn't realize that I was holding my breath until he moved away. Exhaling softly, I watched everyone gather around the table.
-
This is going to be a long deployment...
