A pale, blonde sprawled across his bed as the morning light peaked through the cottage windows. It was a peaceful morning for the young Malfoy, all peaceful, until.
"Dwacooooo!"
A massive pile of happiness jumped on his back, causing Draco to let out a wheeze.
"Merlin Teddy, good morning to you too", he exhaled as he turned over to sit the Lupin boy in his lap, the boy's hair a bleached blonde perfectly matching the Malfoy in front of him.
After the Battle of Hogwarts and the fall of the Dark Lord, Narcissa and Draco Malfoy hand-in-hand entered the Great Hall, uncomfortable with the possibility of the future but nonetheless stayed, unlike Lucius Malfoy with the knowledge of ending up in Azkaban fled into hiding.
As the mother and son walked through mourning families and the dead, Draco watched as his mother let him go and made her way to a woman with light brown hair as she wept with her daughter's head in her lap, Nymphadora Tonk's hand still entwined with Remus Lupin.
Draco stood still, a wave of emotions hit as he realised how many lives he had destroyed that moment with the wardrobe. In the lap of the middle of the Black sisters sat a month-old baby, unaware of his surroundings and the fact that he was now orphaned. With small steps, Draco crouched in front of Andromeda as he held a finger to the baby who immediately latched on with his small hand and let out a flurry of burbles.
And in years a smile appeared on his face.
"He likes you", Andromeda choked out.
"Yeah", he whispered, "may I?"
Andromeda nodded and put Teddy into the arms of Draco and Draco knew this was the beginning of a new life full of light.
"It's a little early in the morning don't you think Ted?", picking up the boy he carried him down to see his Aunt making a hefty breakfast.
"So are we feeding the Weasley family or?" As he eyed the unconventional amount of food for a morning meal.
"Well..." She dragged.
"Oh Aunt, please", even though it's been a year since the war, Draco hasn't attempted to rekindle or start any relationships with his past classmates.
"Well, your mother has invited some of your past Slytherin friends, unfortunately at the same time Harry, Hermione and Ginny are visiting".
While it was unfortunate, Draco remembered it was May 2 and understood why the Gryffindors would come to visit.
"Only two-thirds of the Golden Trio?" To him, it was odd to see all three of them not joint to the hip.
"Well he is off traveling right now according to Harry."
"I see."
Draco wasn't sure if he should be present for the day, considering the past he has developed with them, but on the other hand, his mother went out of her way to invite people who he considered his friends, so he couldn't just disappear for the day.
"So what's going to happen?"
"Well whatever do you mean by that dear nephew?"
"Well, it's been a year since I've seen Potter and his gang and I have no doubt they still see me as what I was to them for 7 years, plus now the death eater who caused the Battle of Hogwarts."
"Draco."
Andromeda could see in his nephew's face that he was scared, more scared than he ever has been. This was a new start for him and he was scared.
"Look at me", his sad grey eyes stared into hers.
"It will be fine, I'm sure they forgive you by now."
A soft smile matched her own as he felt his aunt's reassurance comfort his already shaking body.
"Now let's get this little metamorphmagus fed", Draco gave Teddy to his grandmother much to the dismay of the young boy, his hair changing to a fiery red as he began to complain about the loss of the Malfoy, screaming his name as tears began to form.
"Um, Aunt I don't mind feeding him", as he watched Teddy squirm in his grandmother's arms.
"I think that would be best", Andromeda handed Teddy back and the toddler's attitude changed instantly, his hair changing to a more vibrant yellow as he clapped his hands.
"Dwaco, dwaco, dwaco!"
Draco and Andromeda let out a laugh at the toddler's mood swings between his grandmother and uncle, who practically could be his father with the number of times Teddy changed his appearance to match Draco.
"Hungry aren't ya' little man", Draco sat Teddy in his high chair as he conjured up some pureed food and fed spoonfuls to Teddy who was at first stubborn and refused to open his mouth, reluctantly began to eat after Draco threatened to not letting Teddy sleep with him later that night.
As Draco fed the young Lupin, the sound of floo powder radiated through the house, unsure of the guests, Draco picked up Teddy and made their way to the living room as three figures stared eyes wide at the image in front of them.
"Potter, Weasley", his grey eyes pierced as he stared at the new appearance of the golden trio girl.
"Granger."
"Malfoy", she gasped out.
