Chapter 4
When we got the door open we saw him about to throw another object at the wall. His entire body was tense and both fists curled to perfection. He was breathing hard and looked so furious and I'll admit, a bit scary. Okay, like seriously scary.
He turned towards us and threw the object at us instead. Luckily we ducked and it hit the wall behind us.
"Liam, you need to calm down," Anna spoke softly.
I looked over to her and could tell she was getting a little bit wary of Liam. Was this a frequent occurance in their house? I would sure hope not, it would be so stressful to go through this all the time.
"Calm down?! I'm not going to calm down! I can't do this anymore! Living with guilt! And YOU!" he yelled pointed at me. "Ever since you came everything has gone wrong! You are so much like her! You look like her! You have the same hair! The same eyes! You even have the same right hook except she could throw it right and not bust up her hand!"
I was getting a little nervous now that he was yelling at me now. I sucked it up and blanked my face of any fear. I wasn't sure if he had ever completely gone AWOL before or not.
"Liam, that's quite enough!" Anna scolded.
"No, it's okay," I assured, yet was nervous. Don't ask me why I do the things I do.Sometimes I just don' t think before I speak.
"You are a reminder that she isn't here anymore! She's gone! For the past two days I looked at you and saw her! I regret ever talking to you today! I should have just ignored you like before! And when you were crying in the truck yesterday and now I heard you and mom bawling your eyes out. You think your life is awful and it is nothing compared to mine!"
"Your life may be screwed up, I don't know, but mine is far from perfect, Liam," I said darkly. "You out of anybody i've talked to here should know that!" He was the only person I had told about my epilepsy. "Now you can keep throwing useless words at me or we can go fight this out outside!"
"Avery, you can't fight him-" Anna started in a panic.
"No, it's okay, I know what I'm doing. Just watch," I murmured although I wasn't 100% sure myself.
"Let's go! Right now!" He stormed out of the room and I followed. Anna was almost in tears by now but I kept assuring her i knew what I was doing.
I had seen my brother do this before. What is suppose to happen is that the person that is angry at you won't be able to actually hit you because they won't let themselves.
Almost all people would never purposely hurt a person that they care about by hitting them, but what they don't realise when they are in a fit of anger, is that they're hurting the person with their words. This is suppose to bring them back to reality -- that you don't want to hurt the person you're angry at.
That is not a day I wanted to look back on though, it wasn't pretty.
We made it to the backyard. It was dark and could see the moon and stars out already. They looked pretty in the dark sky. I faced him on an empty part of grass. Anna stood away from us looking nervous as ever.
"I'll make two rules before we start, okay?" I positioned myself for defense. "No cheap shots and no right handed punches to make it even. Got it?" I asked and he nodded once sharply.
"Go," I said.
He advanced towards me and I moved to a defensive position.I've only ever had to use it once and it wasn't even a real fight. My heart started beating faster as he got closer. My hands started shaking and my eyes widened. I coldn't believe it, was he actually going to punch me? Suddenly, he stopped.
