Tsireya had her head down as she trailed her mother's steps into their hut, Lo'ak followed close behind the two girls with Ao'nung walking by his side.

"Lo'ak." The older boy had a stern voice. "What were you thinking?"

Lo'ak shook his head in reply, he couldn't say anything.

They came to a stop inside the chief's home. Ao'nung stood at the sidelines as Ronal turned around to face her daughter and the boy.

Ronal's words were quick and sharp, "You are not taking Sahik seriously. I question if you are even worthy of learning the ways."

"I lost track of time, Mother." Tsireya's expression was hurt, her eyebrows were furrowed in a guilty appearance.

"That is no excuse!" Her mother snapped. She brought her hand to her temple and held it there. Just then Tonowari entered the room, he stood by his son, not wanting to interrupt his wife's scolding.

"I am sorry." Tsireya's voice was light. Lo'ak watched her from beside him, his ears folded back in an irritated manner watching her take the blame. He felt guilty looking at her face.

"It's not her fault." Lo'ak interrupted. Ronal's striking glare landed on him.

"You. Boy." Ronal huffed, "My daughter is not worth your troubles. You are learning to becoming a hunter of this clan. And she is learning to become Sahik...You are not to be with Tsireya until you are finished with your training."

"Mother it was my fault. I wanted to go out to sea, i asked him, i did. Lo'ak shouldn't be punished."

"Tsireya." Tonowari stepped up.

"Father please, It was my fault and I understand i am responsible for not taking this role seriously."

Lo'ak changed his direction to the girl with a distraught expression while his tailed held itself up.

"It is clear to me the two of you have spent too much time together." Ronal continued, this time more calmly. "You two will not see each other until you are both finished with training."

"No." Lo'ak spoke up, he prepared himself for whatever punishment he was to get for speaking out like this.

"Sahik, Olo'eyktan," Lo'ak looked toward Tonorwai and back at Ronal, "with all due respect, i am in love with your daughter, I have had these feelings for a long time, and i wish to become her mate." The words came out of his mouth like a silencing whistle. Tsireya's eyes widened as she turned her head to look at him. Ao'nung straightened his posture.  "You cannot tell me to not see your daughter."

Ronal went quiet, she had closed her eyes and turned toward her husband. Tonowari stood struck for a moment.

"Father, please." Tsireya begged him for mercy as he walked up toward her companion.

"Lo'ak."

There was stone-staking silence.

"If you love my daughter like you say, you will let her finish her lessons, and as will you." He continued with a hand to his shoulder, "It is Eywa's way if she has brought the two of you together, and I pardon the punishment of keeping you two apart."

In the distance Ronal took a sharp inhale to herself.

"However, you will take your training seriously. Both of you." Tonowari looked toward Tsireya.

"When the time is right, you have my-"

"Tonowari." Ronal interrupted him and placed a hand on his arm, she looked at him with searching eyes.
