Tsireya stood slightly behind Lo'ak as the singing of Mo'at's song chord came to a closing. The people stood around holding one another's hands in rows of circles inside one another. They all watched as Neytiri sent down the atokirina from her palm to Tsahik's body, the seed floated down to Mo'a't shoulder where she laid to rest. Jake held onto his partner's shoulders as Neytiri scowled her brows in a pained expression. Kiri sniffled softly as she comforted her younger sister, meanwhile Lo'ak held a silent gaze, there was a stillness in his position. Tsireya reached out to his hand from behind, which she gently squeezed. From in front of the her he held a grip, tightening the firm hold on their hands. Tsireya had only known the woman for a little amount of time, she couldn't imagine the hurt in the Sully's hearts. The girl pressed her forehead onto the back of Lo'ak's shoulder, she closed her eyes for a moment, taking in the whistling of the birds and the scent of her partner. The sun was high, and the weather was warm. It was time the family set out for home back in the Metkayina reef's.
As the family unsaddled themselves from their Ikran the reef people were gathered on the beach to welcome them back. However it was clear on their faces there was a sense of sadness written on them.
Tsireya got off the Ikran first, before going to greet her family she turned her body to face Lo'ak and raised her head to look up at him who still sat on his Ikran. He looked down at the girl from above with slightly serious eyes. Tsireya looked up at him with softened ones. She raised her hand to the side of his cheek, the two hadn't spoken much since the morning of the funeral, she understood; he was hurting and he needed some time. Lo'ak held eye contact with Tsireya as she held his face in her palm, for a moment she stood like that, giving him reassuring eyes before slipping her hand back down to her side. The girl hesitantly turned on her feet and hurried over to reunite with her parents.
Soon enough Tonowari made his way toward the Sully family. He gave them a nod and held onto Jake's arm, thanking them as well as welcoming them back. "Welcome back." Tonowari spoke aloud. He had then turned to Lo'ak, "You're absence has not been counted against your training." The man added.
"Thank you, sir." Lo'ak's eyes raised to the chief, whilst he nodded his head. He had been gone for almost a month. Which meant his training would be concluded very soon.
"I assume your grandmother is rested with Eywa now." Tonowari added as he looked to the rest of them. Neytiri nodded in reply.
"You must rest. The journey must have been exhausting. I have sent food over to your home, there is no need to attend the feast for tonight." Ronal spoke up gently. From behind her Ao'nung gave Tsireya a short embrace.
The sun was beginning to set over the horizon, and the Sully's carried their baggage back to their pod. Their was a nostalgia in being in the Metkayina clan again, it was a different feeling to the jungle. It was home.
Lo'ak hauled his belongings over his shoulder, as he did so he turned his feet to slightly bump into Tsireya. He gazed down at the girl, who seemed to have a soft expression toward him. Her hand brushed over his knuckles softly. Tsireya was lost for words, she didn't know what to say as she looked at him. Lo'ak simply couldn't find the courage to say anything. He brought his free hand from his side to her cheek, the boy held her like that for a moment before continuing his way to his hut.
Tuk ate the most that night, while the rest of them gathered by the small lit fire in their home Lo'ak laid on his side on his matt. The boy's mind was clouded with feelings, yet at the same time an emptiness. He recalled the last conversation he had with his grandmother. The two had spoken about his early childhood in the forest, and even before that. Before the boy was born, and her experiences with becoming a mother to her daughters. Mo'at recalled everything she had lost in life, and everything she had gained. The topic seemed sensitive to the teenager. With closed eyes, his thoughts trailed back to Tsireya. The two had barely spoken the entire day. Lo'ak's eyes blinked open shortly, he had swallowed to himself at the thought of her. A slight swell in his chest pulsed, it throbbed in discomfort. He had been so caught up in his feelings, it only came to his realization now that he had been pushing the girl away. Guilt warmed inside his chest. Silently he crunched upward from his laying position. The rest of his family were settling into bed, while Tuk and Neytiri still sat around the fire. Neytiri had her back turned to Lo'ak, who quietly walked out of the hut. Meanwhile, Tuk held eye contact with the boy. He brought his index to his lips, and for a moment the younger girl thought about it before looking back down to her food. With that, Lo'ak made his way toward the Chief's hut.
