Great. Schools out. I know what your thinking. Who would WANT to stay after school? Answer, someone who gets bullied on the bus all the time. I beg and beg my parents to pick me up after school, but they both say, "sorry sweetie I will still be at work by the time you get out." and They won't let me walk home because our house is too far from the school. I also tried asking my friend, Samantha, if she would give me a ride, but she has a swim meet everyday. Yes everyday. So the only way to get home is the bus.I get on the bus and look around. Just when I think my "usual bully" isn't here today, she sat back up in her seat. Right by an empty seat she saved just for me. When she sees me, she smirks, and whispers something to her friends. Whatever she said, it was something bad about me, because they snickered and looked in my direction. I roll my eyes and reluctantly sit in the last spot on the bus. Of course, Claire saved me a seat. She always saves me a seat just so she can act like her usual self. A bully. I try to read my favorite book, "The Only Thing To Fear", and tune her out, but when I open it Claire slams it shut and snatches it right out of my hands.
"You're reading this garbage? Your wasting your life." she says and throws it down on the bus floor. Just when I go to grab it, we stop, the book slides to the seat in front, and my head hits the seat. Everyone is laughing except for the guy in front of me. He hands me my book and glares at everyone else. Even Claire. She sees him glaring at her and stands up. She makes her way over, pushing me out of my seat in the process, and stares him down. "Who do you think you are?" He just ignores her, stands up to her level and smiles.
"Excuse me. but I believe you are in my way." He squeezes past her and walks over to me, and holds out his hand. I take it and he pulls me up. "are you okay?" He asks. He is so tall my head is almost to his chin. "I'm William. But most people call me Will." He gestures for me to sit and he sits next to me. So Claire is forced to sit away from her henchmen. Talk about karma. But her karma doesn't last long because we come to the final bus stop. I didn't notice how many people got off at this stop. I find Will and catch up with him.
"Will!" I yell so I get his attention. "Thanks. For sticking up for me. On the bus." I say kind of shyly.
"Don't mention it. It's the least I could do." He replies. "See you at school tomorrow?"
