(You go on a late night drive with Eddie to stargaze)
You lay on your bed, tired from a long day at school. Since a strict 7pm curfew befell Hawkins, you struggled to find things to occupy yourself with. You roll over and look at your bedside clock to see it's a little after 9pm.
Suddenly, you hear small pinging sounds coming from your window. Curious, you tiptoe over and open your window, narrowly dodging another small rock being thrown.
"Oops, my bad." You hear Eddie, standing below you. "Are you okay?"
"What are you doing here?" You hiss.
"Come out with me." He pleaded, ignoring your question.
You look behind you and sigh. You then look back down at Eddie, seeing a wide grin across his cute as hell face.
"Okay, hold on." You sprint to your bedroom door and lock it. You then grab a light jacket and wiggle your way out and down your window.
"Oof." You land, nearly falling in Eddie's arms. He catches you and steadies you until both of your feet are planted firmly on the grass. He gives you a tight hug and all you can smell is the mix of leather, weed, and cigarettes. But, it has quickly become your favorite smell.
Ever since you joined Eddie's weekly Dungeons and Dragons group, and impressed him with your knowledge and skills of the game, he's been sweet on you. You didn't know yet if you were actually dating or not, or whatever someone like Eddie would call it, but you decide to just go with it and see where it takes you.
"Come on, sweetheart." Eddie wraps an arm around your waist and you two sneak down the street where Eddie left his van. He helps you into the passenger seat before climbing in himself. Eddie gives you another goofy grin as he starts up the vehicle.
"So, what exactly are we doing?" You ask.
Eddie shrugs and says, "I was just going for a late night drive and wanted some good company."
You smile and try not to blush. Even though you've gotten to know Eddie better than most people and found out he's actually a kind-hearted metal muffin, you sometimes find him intimidating to be around; He still flusters you so easily, and he knows it.
You feel a hand gently slide up your leg to your thigh as Eddie breaks your train of thought. You glance down and glance back at Eddie. He still had his eyes on the road, but you can see a small, crooked smile on his face. You reach down and fidget with his black ring and try very slyly to take it off to try on your own finger.
"You don't have to try to be sneaky." His sudden words nearly make you jump. You looked up, embarrassed. Eddie holds out his hand so you can take off his black stone ring. You smile as it fits on your ring finger perfectly.
"Looks good on you, babe." Eddie says before he grabs your hand again. His thumb absentmindedly traces your hand.
You look up out your window and notice the dark sky completely filled with stars and the trees of nearby woods silhouetted above the horizon line.
"It's so beautiful out tonight."
"It is." Eddie agrees.
You soon find yourselves on an empty road surrounded by large bushes and trees as you get deeper into a forest. Without saying anything, Eddie turns down a dirt road you barely noticed was there. You look over at him, wondering where he thinks he's going. He then finally stops and parks the van.
"Come on." He gestures as he quickly hops out of his vehicle. He jogs over and opens the door for you.
"What's going on?" You ask. What did Eddie have up his sleeve this time?
He quietly leads you through thick branches and leaves until you come across an opening on the edge of the woods. Eddie smiles and points up to the sky. You follow his gaze and watch how breathtaking the view is.
"Eddie." You breathe. "It's so stunning."
Eddie leans in close to you and kisses your cheek. "Sure is" He whispers before pulling back.
You blush as he then grabs your hand and pulls you to the ground to join him. You both lie on your back, looking up at the stars. As you snuggle close and wrap one arm around Eddie's waist and lay your head on his chest, Eddie points up and bullshits his way around fake constellations, making up names and backstories, making you laugh.
"What about that cluster over there?" You point to the right of your view.
"Oh, that one's obviously the Shire." He raised his hand and pointed to a small cluster of four stars. "See those? Samwise, Frodo, Merry, and Pippin."
"Eddie Munson, stop." You giggle.
Eddie wraps both arms around you tightly and kisses the top of your head. You sigh deeply as you spend the rest of the night enjoying his company. You try to fight it, but you soon find yourself yawning, not realizing how tired you really are.
"We should probably go." Eddie suggests. He pulls you up with him as you both stand. You giggle as you pick off leaves and small twigs from Eddie's jacket and hair. You then look up and notice the bright twinkle of stars reflecting on his big beautiful chocolate button eyes.
Eddie grabs your chin to pull you in further and kisses you deeply. You wrap your arms around his waist under his jacket as his fingers start becoming entangled in your hair. You reluctantly pull away to breathe, your heart racing.
"Let me take you back home." He said quietly, his hands still on your face.
As you make the trek back to Eddie's van, you rub your arms with your hands. You realize your thin jacket wasn't enough for the late night cold. Seeing this, Eddie slides off his leather jacket and places it over your shoulders.
"Oh, thanks." You hug the jacket tightly around you.
"Of course." He laughed. "What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't try to keep you warm?" He playfully nudges you.
You follow him down a path, grinning now that you two seem official. You then almost run into Eddie's back as he suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" You ask, but then follow his gaze to see distant blue lights flashing around where the van was parked.
"Shit." Eddie whispers.
"What are we going to do?"
Eddie turns back to face you, a devious Grinch-like grin spread across his face as he dangles his keys in front of you.
"In the mood for a little race?"
"Eddie, no." You say, but it was too late. Eddie grabs your hand and makes a run toward the van. You both pile in as the cops jump out of their car to stop you.
Eddie, looking behind him, floors the gas pedal, spinning you both backwards. You quickly lurched forward as the van screeches back onto the road. As the sound of sirens gets closer, Eddie rolls down his window and blasts the radio, a heavy metal song booming throughout the otherwise quiet night. Eddie sticks his arm out the open window and throws up a middle finger as he cackles.
You're pretty sure your heart stopped beating two minutes ago, but as you watch Eddie, excited about the thrill he gets from pissing off authority figures, you can't help but smile. You join Eddie, rolling down your own window, and giving the cops the same salute as you both continue to speed down the road into the night.
