Venting friend

“Are you ok?” I ask you. “I’m ok” you tell me, but I know that’s a lie. I’ve told that lie to myself to many times. ‘I’m ok, I’m alright’ is what is expected of you say, while you cry out loud begging for someone to stay. ‘It’s ok, it’s alright’ is what you expect from me.

Because I’m the venting friend you see. I listen day and night to your tale of how the world is cruel. I’m there when you need me most. I’m there because it’s my job to take care of you.

But I’m breaking inside. All this pressure to keep calm and stay quiet is eating me up alive. I silently cry when no one around, because if I cried in front of you, you’d tell me I have no reason to cry. I want to tell you I understand your pain.

But I’m the venting friend with the ‘perfect’ life. So, I’ll listen to you cry while I wished I could cry with you.

Damn I didn't know I could be this deep. Kidding, most of my peoms and stories are dark. But a couple are lighthearted.

Have a good day/night
