Three days had passed since my husband's death. I was feeling restless, the constant need to put on a convincing performance was... wearing me down to say the least.

"Mrs. Vedridian?"

I blinked slowly, focusing on the young man that held a large binder entering my drawing room. His hair was a dark navy colour, his bangs curled slightly at the edges, pushed to both sides of his face as he had parted his hair at the middle. He walked inside with a leisurely pace, he bowed slightly before sitting on a chaise facing the one I was sitting on. His purple eyes sparkled, and I noticed his hair was long enough to be tied back into a ponytail. He was wearing a dark suit, with thin lines of purple adorning the otherwise plain fabric. That was paired with a white dress shirt with a rather pompous cravat.

This wasn't the man I was expecting. No. I was waiting for a Hunter. Hiring one would be overlooked, played off as a need for extra security...  "And who might you be?"

"Your new family lawyer, Daisuke Mori, at your service."

Ah... Old Mr. Gowte had in fact mentioned that he would resign. His age wasn't being kind to him and the death of my husband, a good friend of his, was too much for him to handle. The man handed me a sealed letter, whose handwriting matched Mr. Gowte's. The seal was unbroken, and the insignia stamped didn't seem out of the ordinary.

"Mr. Mori, I see nothing but praise for you here." I allowed for a tight smile as I inspected this new piece on my board. He had a few moles on his face, his skin was pale and unbroken... He held a certain beauty, androgynous, odd sort of beauty.

"Why... Mr. Gowte is already raising your expectations of me. I am simply here to conclude the matters of the heritage of your late husband. My condolences." He opened his binder slowly, skimmed a few sheets of paper before piling them to his side.

"Thank you. He was a good husband... well... I thought he was, at least. I learnt a lot about him after his... passing." I accepted the documents he kindly handed to me and took the distraction to focus on the words. The will was there, leaving everything that once belonged to Tahei and the Vedridian family to me, Y/N L/N Vedridian.

"You must be feeling conflicted." His voice was smooth, he couldn't be much older than me, this new lawyer.

"Quite..." I nodded as I searched for a pen to sign the documents, Mr. Mori pulled one from his chest pocket with a flourish of his hand. I smiled in thanks and quickly signed the highlighted lines. "Although, I am more worried about my safety. I must rush this meeting, I have to interview someone to assure my security in five minutes. A bodyguard of sorts."

"An intelligent idea. I'll be sure to schedule my next appointment with you, Mr. Gowte mentioned that I could simply drop by..." Mr. Mori's nose scrunched as he considered his faux pas.

"That would be ideal. Things have been... hectic... a lot to plan, changes in staff and more responsibilities... I'm quite swamped..." No I wasn't. I had this all planned. I could be doing this so much more efficiently... Oh, if only I hadn't to play the desolate wife who was overwhelmed...

"I understand. Your new responsibilities are what we need to discuss, we can re-schedule for your best convenience."

"Thank you, I assume this will be very business focused?" I tilted my head as I smoothed down the last paper that needed signing, he nodded, and I quickly scribbled my name over the line and handed the documents to him. "Oh" I sounded, as if remembering something. Perhaps I could rush my plans along... Mr. Mori didn't know my husband, so... "I found some papers with future investments he wanted to make... I'd like to honour his work, should I hand them to you or do I have to sign them now that..." I bit my lip, making it tremble under the pressure, and clasped my hands together.
