"and she said use your hands and my spare time we've got one thing in common its this tongue of mine"

Series of beeps and the pounding of doors awoken me from my wistful dream and my sore arms moved frantically from left to right in an attempt to switch off my blaring alarm clock at 3 am in the morning.

"Strange," I thought. I never set the alarm clock this early. Rubbing my sore shoulders which were covered in a worn out sweater that was owned by my best friend, I climbed out of bed with wobbly legs and headed towards the bathroom.

It was drizzling slightly and I could smell the Autumn air accompanied by the smell of maples and familiar cologne through my opened window. The cold, sweet air rushed in through the little crack of my window and left me shivering with slight goosebumps.

Pondering over the fact that there was pounding on my bedroom door, which thankfully stopped, I stepped out into the hallway outside my bedroom only to see my little brother sitting on the dark mahogany floor with the house phone in clasped in his tiny hands and a tiny freckled smile on his face.

I sat down beside him and ruffled his chocolate coloured locks, smiling lazily at him. "Who's on the phone, sweetheart?" I asked him with a slight frown on my face due to the fact that he was still awake. He didn't answer me. Instead, he gave me the phone with a sloppy smile and said, "He wants to talk to you Eli!"

I pressed the house phone agaisnt my ear and I heard a thick, British accent on the other end of the phone speaking at a rapid speed, "Can you meet me outside, love? I'm behind the old shack." With that, he hung up, leaving me with an intake of breath and unspoken words.

I turned to Max, who was leaning against my thigh with closed eyes and slight snores coming out of his pink lips. I chuckled at my little brother and carefully picked up his tiny frame and set him down his bed, pulling his Toy Story duvet over his sleeping form.

I quickened my footsteps into my room and ran a brush over my unruly, wavy hair and pulled at the hem of my sweater before deciding that I was way too lazy to change to change out of my pajamas.

I slowly padded down the stairs, each footstep lighter than the other as I tried to make as little noise as possible. I slipped on some shoes as I walked out into the dark of the night, on the dark green grass that were accompanied by wild flowers of all sorts, my feet bringing me to the old oak tree behind the old shack where he would be leaning against the tree, eyes glistening in the night, waiting for me.

"Elizabeth," A smooth and raspy voice spoke out into the night. I turned to face that very voice that soothed me every night ever since the incident occurred. I saw him, leaning against the old oak tree with his phone in hand, its screen illuminated onto his boyish features, casting shadows and causing him to look even more mysterious and attractive than usual. His dark curls were pushed to one side and as I walked closer to him, I could slightly smell the faint scent of cigarettes.

I fell into his rock hard arms like I did every other night when my parents came home late from work and I pressed my head to his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. He held me with his head buried in the crook of my neck and his hand absent-mindedly brushed the tendrils away from my face. In the coldness of the night, I stayed there with his strong arms wrapped around my torso.

It's been months since I've seen him and I've honestly never felt more alive.
