A/N

I am so sorry this took me ages

----

Lucy and Emmet were assigned to an important mission, to find whatever useful bricks from the ruins of Apocalypseburg that could be used for resources in the city. It might of been hard to believe, but slowly, Syspocalypstar was running out of supplies, so the couple decided to take initiative and find more things to restock.

Lucy didn't think they'd be out long, as they were asked to find at least a few hundred bricks at maximum, which didn't sound like a lot, but she was proven wrong as the two had been walking for 5 hours in the burning hot sun and they hadn't found anything. (To make matters worse, Lucy was wearing her black jacket.)

"Ughhhh...why did we sign up for this?" Lucy groaned, sweating hard.

"Because we wanted to be helpful. Oh- Look! There's some bricks over there!" Emmet said, excited they had found something finally.

Emmet tried to keep his joyful personality on the whole time, cause he didn't want Lucy questioning why he was shaking and looking nervous otherwise, because he was proposing today. He didn't know exactly when, but he knew he had to do it today.

It took him ages to figure out where to do it, at first he wanted to do something romantic, like at a fancy restaurant, but they never went to them often, and he was worried she'd get suspicious, because he wanted her to be shocked that he was proposing whenever he would, in order to see her full reaction, because for most people, proposals were a once in a lifetime thing.

He knew she probably would say yes, but there was a slight worry not too deep inside him, that maybe, just maybe, she wasn't ready?

Or, she just preferred being "Special best friends" and didn't want to get married.

Though, the only way for him to find out, was if he asked.

He had to propose eventually, because he knew that if he waited longer, she might accidentally find out, or she'd assume that every time they went out, he might do it and they'll be no surprise at all.

Though, the reason he chose to propose in a desolate unpopulated wasteland, was because of one big factor-

Privacy.

There was nobody else with them, and Emmet knew for a fact that Lucy wasn't the biggest fan of public affection, and she much preferred having Emmet to herself, if he proposed, she'd probably want it to be just them alone, and not thousands of people with cameras and everything, which would make Lucy feel weird about reacting to his question in a genuine way.

All that mattered was that he got an answer of sorts, and that no matter what she said, he'd be supportive, and not cry.

Anyway, he was quite happy with the ring he chose, it was silver with a Emerald stone and it had E & L FOREVA engraved on it.

He somewhat memorized the little speech he was going to say once he kneeled, but the more he began stressing, and the more warmer the sun shined, he slowly forgot practically everything, so he'd probably have to improvise on the spot, because now he had to act normal and appear to be finding bricks.

After a while, it got dark, and the two felt happy with the amount of bricks they found, as a way to reward themselves, they decided to camp out on the night, cause there was supposed to be shooting stars. This was good news for Emmet, because it would

1. Make the whole situation more romantic

2. Buy him some more time

There was nothing stopping him now. All he had to do, was kneel down, and ask her a question. Nothing too hard.

---

"Ems? Are you okay? You seem quite stressed out. You don't need to worry, there's no aggressive duplo down here that can hurt you." His love asked Emmet.

"No, I'm alright, Lu."

"Okayy.." She replied, looking up at the dark night sky, waiting for the stars to come out.

Emmet knew he had to do something now, she'd probably fall asleep watching the lunar event, which could start any minute now.

"H-Hey, Lucy! Maybe we could get a better view from over there!" Emmet suggested, pointing over to another area which had less clouds in the air, really, it should of cleared up by the time the shower began, but Emmet needed an excuse for them both to stand up, so he could kneel much easier.

"Oh, sure." He held her left hand, helping her get up as the two moved over there, though before she could sit down, he held both of her hands, and stood in front of her, indicating he wanted her to stand for the time being.

"Hey...Lucy?" He began

"Yeah?"

"You know I love you, right?"

"You tell me that every night, Ems. I love you too."

He blushed and zoned out, before coming back to reality.

"I...I just wanted to ask you a question, that's all."

"Sure, what is it?" She replied.

He let go of her right hand, kneeling down and then looking up at her.

Her face instantly turned into a unreadable expression, but Emmet continued anyway.

"I've known you for almost eight years, and every last moment of it has been incredible. I never knew what love felt like until I met you. Everything is awesome whenever I'm around you and I don't want that to change. I don't know if you felt that way too, but at this point, I love you too much to care. "

He began to cry, his voice cracking, and she hadn't even said anything yet.

He let go of her other hand to get a small black box out of his pocket. He only had a small glance at her expression now, and all he could make out in the quite dark area, was her own tears, and her face, which now obviously looked very shocked.

"So Lucy....will you marry me?" He asked, looking into her eyes, bracing for any answer.

"I-I- YES!" She managed to say, as her tears took over.

Emmet blinked boldly, actually surprised that she said yes, but no doubt was he happy. He cried even more as Lucy went to her knees and kissed him lovingly, falling into his tight embrace after.

Emmet looked up into the sky.

"Oh, look, it's a shooting star Lucy! Make a wish" He said, sobbing and smiling, also laughing for no reason.

Lucy looked up and saw it. Closing her eyes, and wishing, that this would be the start of a new life, and the two, would be husband and wife, the whole time.
