Author's note: Part 15/?? of Pat/Non story. A short filler before something huge.
Pat woke up early, though his shift started at noon today. Non was peacefully sleeping, using his chest as a pillow. Pat smiled fondly at the younger, sweeping away the stray hair from his forehead. He could watch him sleep the whole day and not get bored. The phone on the nightstand vibrated, announcing an incoming message. He carefully untangled one arm from Non's grip and picked up his mobile. The text was from his mother.
"Don't let Non see the news."
Pat frowned, immediately opening the browser and looking up the latest news.
"Bussababan's flower business drying up." The headlines said. Pat opened the article and scanned the content. It seemed like his mother's plan finally started to work. Pat wasn't much optimistic about it at first, though.
Non moved, trying to find a better position to sleep in, and Pat had to hold his breath not to wake him up. He observed the young boy with fondness. But he still felt somehow guilty. It won't be easy for Non from now on. His family was sinking, and Pat knew they would try to target Nonsee this time to get even.
"I won't." He answered his mother before he put the phone back. He wrapped Non in his arms again, letting him snuggle closer.
"It will be over soon." He whispered into his hair, inhaling the sweet vanilla scent.
"And you will be happy again," Pat added, closing his eyes and enjoying the moment before he had to go back to work.
