It seems that the cheerleader incident must've sent a wave of shock throughout the school; it was much quieter, and definitely much emptier. Imagine. It was already Tuesday and something happened. Everyone's parents must've heard about what happened to the cheerleader and didn't want the same thing to happen to their kids, so they just kept them home. My mom couldn't let me stay home anyway, even if there was a massive apocalypse happening. She was really serious about education, and unless there was a real, super dangerous reason to not go to school, I always went to school. I hated it though. I hated the fact that I was forced to come to a place where I would only be stared at or, even better, scared of. And this whole cheerleader thing just had to make everything better... not. I closed my locker and was about to walk towards my next class when all of a sudden, I felt someone grab my wrist and pull me around to face them. I lifted a fist to punch them, but when I saw that it was Carter, I lowered my hand slightly. He noticed this small movement and chuckled. "Got a soft spot for me, huh?" he asked, mockingly. I pulled away from him and grabbed onto my backpack's strap. "Stay away from me, Carter." was all I said to him before I walked away.

I sat down in my history class and dropped my backpack on the floor. I took out my notebook and pencil case, then opened both of them to reach a new blank page and take out a black pencil. I waited for the bell to ring, for the teacher to start his lesson, and for this whole day to be over with. I had to stay away as much as possible from Carter. He knew that I saw him yesterday, and I don't doubt that he would try to do something terrible to make me forget about it... or worse, he'd kill me. I glanced around the room and when my eyes landed on him sitting at the back of the class, I jerked my head around, my cheeks turning red with anger. What the heck was he doing in my history class? Now I have to share this class with him too? Having one class with him was bad enough already. "Alright, class." Mr. Wilson said, clapping his hands together. I looked up from my desk to see my teacher standing in front of the class, and smiling down at us. I looked back down at my desk and tried to keep myself from bursting out in utter annoyance and rage. "Today we are going to talk about a more... special subject. Who can tell me what they know about supernatural creatures, what kinds there are, and what they do and feed on, etcetera? Yes, Mr. Clyde?" Mr. Wilson said. I rolled my eyes. Obviously Carter was going to be the first one to raise his hand; he was the only supernatural creature in the room, after all.
I risked a glance in his direction to see him grinning widely at the teacher as he said: "Well, there are the more popular or well-known supernatural creatures such as witches, werewolves and vampires. Witches have magic powers, of course, and really, they feed on gross things like toads and that kind of stuff. Werewolves are humans that can basically turn into these huge furry dogs when the moon is full, and they feed on mostly flesh and bone. Now vampires... that's a little bit different." I swear I could feel him pause and look straight at me, despite my back completely facing him. I shivered. It almost feels like he's aiming his coldness at me for some reason. When I glanced over my shoulder to look at him, I saw that he wasn't looking at me, but instead at the teacher. I frowned, and he continued: "Vampires are nocturnal, meaning they come out during the night, and..." he trailed off as he looked at me. I froze when I saw him grin. "They feed on human blood." I suddenly felt like everything in the room stopped. Just like that. It felt as if he and I were the only ones in the room, and that his gaze was piercing right through me, through my skin and into my soul. I wanted to look away, but for a split second, his eyes turned to that deep scarlet, and I suddenly found it very hard to look away, despite my urge to do so. I finally found the courage to turn my head around and close my eyes. I took a deep breath and let the warmth in the classroom bring me back to the real world. "Thank you, Mr. Clyde. I'm sure everyone wrote all that information down, because we will be having a quiz on Friday to test your knowledge on these supernatural creatures, and how they impacted the population of many countries with their lore and gore-filled stories." Mr. Wilson, smiling proudly at Carter. When the bell rang for the end of the day, I grabbed all my things and ran out of the room. Literally. I couldn't risk having Carter follow me wherever I was going.
