For the rest of the day Emma wandered around the school. Looking at classes, visiting the cafeteria constantly while she pretended to be one of the younger grades, mostly, however, sitting down on one of the nearer benches and looking at her phone.Like everyone Emma did have a friend. Just one. One that was always there for her, but she, too, had moved away. Her other friends were..well they were just using her for her dad. Outmost her dad was probably the whole reason people always tried to be nice to her. She was rich. And whenever people who were her "friends" talked to her they would always start with "Emma! Can I borrow some money..." Or "Emma I need a favor...". It was, after all, the cold hard truth. She was always used for her money. Well in some cases of course..there was an expectation.
"Hi to you too.." Emma mumbled, dropping her coat off at the rack. She looked around and saw her dad sitting at a desk with his laptop opened.
Probably something for work. Like always. She thought, taking a seat on the couch and quickly opening her phone.
Lily:
Hey, you free?
Yea..What do you need..?
200 Dollars, me and the
girls are shopping..Hope
that's not too much to
ask for!<3*Emma has left the chat*
"Stick your nose out of that phone woulda." Mr.Copeland said, coming into the room to get another cup of coffee. "Whatever.." muttered Emma. "If you want to ruin your life then have at it. You know I got another call from the school today. Say that you told them you were dropping out? Seriously? Ugh."
"Well it's not my fault that your never here! Maybe if you were to actually help me and pay attention to me I wouldn't be the same!" Emma stood up and started to walk to the door. "Elise or whatever, get me some more coffee from the store. We're out...oh and grab me some pasta while your at it and make sure it's already cooked!" Mr Copeland walked over to Emma and handed her 20 dollars. "What about my food? Oh and my name's Emma. Get it right Aiden." She said simultaneously. "Yeah, Yeah, same thing-" But Emma had heard enough. She pocketed the 20 dollars and walked out of the door as fast as she could.
The walk was extremely cold. Worried about getting away from Mr.Copeland Emma had completely forgotten to grab a jacket and some gloves. This was Chicago for gods sake.
Now, a freezing Emma made her way through the streets of Chicago as she tried to find her favorite store: Stuff n' Stuff. It was a weird name but she loved it. It was absolutely great and she wouldn't quit buying from it for anything, even if she was going to walk in with no coat or jacket.
Finally after about 5 minutes she came across Stuff n' Stuff, It's sign a bright red neon from the back, and pushed the doors open, relieved to finally have warmth.
Ding Ding Screeched the bell, alarming the cashier, Nathan, that someone was here.
Nathan was Emma's Favorite person, more so because Emma didn't have any real friends, but he was also really fun to talk with and she knew he would never use her for her money. He wasn't that type of guy.
Nathan was about Emma's age, 15. His real name was Nathaniel but he didn't really like being called that as it reminded him of his dad, who, like Emma's dad, never really cared for Nathan..or in her case, Emma herself.
Emma and Nathan were alike in a lot of ways expect his mom was still alive and Emma's mom was..well..she was dead. Emma had known her for the longest time, infact it had only been 6 months since she died but it felt like forever. Of course though, one night someone shot her in the head. The police tried and tried to find out who did it but to no avail, so they finally gave up but Emma wasn't done solving the case.
"Hey Emma! Finally someone fun around here!" Nathan Smiled. "Yea, I had to get away from my dad" she laughed now. It was fun being around Nathan. "Okayy well help yourself to the shelves! We just restocked." He started scanning a toy. "Alright, thanks! Afterwards I'll hang around..give u some company you know?" She grinned. "Totallyy." He replied sarcastically. Emma walked around the shelves and started looking for some pasta, she didn't need to go to a restaurant. "Noodles and..." As she turned the corner a look of horror struck her face. There, standing next to her "best friend"old with a arm over her shoulder was her boyfriend. "Babe, she'll never find out!" He grinned. That disgusting cheater. Emma thought as she started walking in front of them. "Find out what..? That your cheating on me? Please. I never needed you anyway Max. And Allison? I thought you were better then this." She sighed.
"Wait I can explain, I-" but she didn't listen, she ran out of the store as fast as she could, tears spilling down her face, she didn't need to listen. Everyone in her life was fake. Fake. Fake. Fake. Fake. Her boyfriend, too, was cheating on her..out of everyone! Who knew if Nathan was fake too? There's no one left to trust.
And that, my friends was just the beginning. this is where the real story starts.
