In the beginning, when the Moon Goddess created the first wolf out of thin air, packs and mates and ascension weren't even thought of. It was just the wolf. The wolf howled with joy when the Moon Goddess told it to run free and far. Discover the world.

It took about a year according to the stories for the wolf to become lonely. On the night of the full moon, it looked to the sky and asked for a partner. The Moon Goddess had been waiting for it to realize that being alone wasn't an ideal way to live. So, happily, she bestowed upon the wolf a companion. They sniffed each other and jumped around happily. The second wolf understood its purpose.

Together they traveled, the longer they were near each other the closer they got. Soon they fell in love and had pups. Lots of them. The Moon Goddess came to the second wolf one night and offered it a deal. She would allow them to grace two feet with moveable fingers and lips in exchange for them to build her legacy.

Confused, the wolf wondered what she willed her legacy to be. The Moon Goddess wanted them to populate this area, build homes and lives and be free. That she was going to create a few other zones and she wanted them to communicate and work together. She wanted a world full of her children.

The wolf nodded in agreement and said it would be more than happy to do this for the Moon Goddess. So she graced them with the ability to shift from man/woman to wolf.

As decades went on, the buildings got better and bigger. Some alliances lasted and some did not. But the legacy the Moon Goddess wanted remained and stood tall for all to see. It didn't take long for a hierarchy to take on. Alphas/Lunas, Betas, Gammas, and Omegas. Having a chain of command made life easier for the wolves all over.

Even better, the ceremonies that took place when a young wolf ascended to the throne as an alpha were a sight to behold. It was an honor to be recognized as an important member of the pack and for them to accept your rise to be their leader. To be just and honorable. It's all in the vows.

Valus looked up from her book, The Origins, to see her mother had stepped into her room. "You have 2 hours to prepare for the ceremony darling." She held up a white dress which caused Valus to grimace. "Oh, no Mom. Can't I just choose something of my own?" She almost whined. Her mother laughed and shook her head, "Sadly, no. You may not. This has been passed down from Luna to Luna.." Valus interrupted quickly, "I'm becoming an Alpha. Not a Luna."

"Be that as it may, there aren't any alpha dresses so you will have to deal with this." Her mother laid it down. "I'm sorry mother but I'm not there to look graceful. I'm there to look strong and prepared to fight for my family, my home." Valus stood and put a hand on her shoulder, finishing "Save your dress for my wedding day. I'll wear it then." Knowing full well she didn't plan to marry.

Mother sighed heavily in defeat, "No use arguing when you have your mind set. So much like your father." She smiled, "Please just choose something... nice." Cassidy looked around before looking at her daughter and putting her hand on Valus' hair. "I'll see you in a bit, baby. Your father will meet you at the start of the ceremony to walk with you." Valus' mother kissed her forehead then smiled and exited her room, shutting the door behind her.

Valus let out a breath in relief, right before Cora busted in. "It's time to get ready! Oh my goddess, you should see all the people your parents invited!" Cora kept talking as Valus turned to her closet. "It's tradition for neighboring packs to be in attendance for a new alpha's ascension. And we have quite a few around us." She only knew that because of Cora, Valus figured it was about time she did some reading. She will be doing a lot of that over the next couple months to truly understand her heritage. Cora looked dressed for the occasion in her blue shimmering gown with blue pumps and long brown hair in curls.
