"A long time ago, there was a Goddess named Nyx. She was goddess of Night. By her side sat Erebus, who was born of the sun. And his brother and Nyx's warrior, Kalona. He was madly in love with Nyx, and proved it everyday by fighting darkness to keep her realm clean.
One day, Kalona came back to find Erebus and Nyx, they had defiled him and crushed his heart. With this, Kalona stopped fighting for Nyx, and Nyx banished him from her realm. Down Kalona fell, screaming in pain and fear. Pain from Nyx, and fear of being part of a different world. When he landed he happened to be in an area of Cherokee tribes. The Cherokee people welcomed him happily as a God to their people.
Slowly, the people starting hating him, as he defiled woman, and forced men to work. As the people became more hateful towards Kalona, a group of Wise Woman came together. Their goal was to rid of Kalona, so they made a girl.
One wise woman sang lightly in her ear, to give her a beautiful voice.
One wise woman made her beautiful hair from the finest wool.
One woman made her beautiful legs, to run fast.
With that, the woman called her A-Ya, which means "Me".
They sent A-Ya to the river, to wait for Kalona.
As she waited, she sang a beautiful song, and combed her beautiful hair.
When Kalona saw her, he fell madly in love.
A-Ya ran, and Kalona followed with hesitation.
A-Ya ran into a cave, and Kalona followed, at the end of the cave, A-Ya welcomed him in her arms, and when he hugged her, she turned back to clay, and entrapped him forever."
The story entrapped Elle and Rylan, with every word, and pause, they got more and more excited. Elle glanced at Rylan after Grandma Alexandria was finished and with an excitement that almost literally flowed out of her she said, "Let's find the cave."
