That day at school, I sat in class taking notes as best as I could cause knowing Bay looked like me was unbelievable but awesome at the same time. After class, I went to my locker really fast and hurried to put away my books so I could go to lunch and visit with my friends before school let out. Daphne came up to me and signed: I just got a text from mom. I looked at her a moment and smiled, kinda waiting for the rest of the statement she was making. I signed: And? What else?. She shrugs before she signs: I don't know. Mom's supposed to tell us after school. We both hear the bell that signaled school was over and we both went outside to talk to Emmett while waiting for her to pick us up.
When mom picks us up, we get in the car and she drives on home. As we all walk inside and stand in the living room, mom faces us and signs: Katherine invited us over for a dinner tonight around six.as she speaks. Daphne signs: Sounds like fun. I sign: I think it would be great, because I could meet Bay officially. Hey, mom? Don't the Kennishes have another daughter? She signs: Yeah. Krystal, and she seems really nice. I think you will all get along really well. as she speaks. Around five, I go to my room to pick out a blue one strap dress and high heels as I brush my hair and curl it a bit before I smile in the mirror at myself. I go to the bedroom door, where the light flashes and I open it as mom walks in wearing a purple dress and high heels. She signs: You look beautiful. as she speaks. I sign: Thanks, mom. as I twirl and then we both smile, before walking downstairs where Daphne is standing in a fuschia one strap dress and high heels. We walk over to the Kennishes and when we walk inside, Katherine meets us. "Hi, you all look beautiful." I look towards a blonde haired girl, who must be Krystal mom keeps talking about as I walk over to her. "Hi. I'm Hayley Jade." She looks at me at first thinking she hadn't understood me then she says, "I'm Krystal. Bay's told me about you several times since you've moved into the guest house." I look at her like I hadn't understood a word she said and she said, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I must be too fast. Bay told me about you and Daphne."
I sign: Oh no, it's okay. Just make sure you slow down and not talk too slow or too fast. as I speak. "Oh yeah, no problem." she says as I sit by her and we talk for some time before dinner out on the patio. When dinner came, I sat between Daphne and mom and I sign: Do we hold hands or something?. as I speak, not sure what they did at dinner time. "Sure, whatever you'd like." Katherine said as we all held hands. I said: Thank you for the food and for meeting this great family. Amen. as I signed. After we ate, Katherine said, "I have wondered a few things ever since you all arrived here, and one of them is, Daphne and Emmett." There was a pause and then mom speaks up as I take a sip of my water. "What about them? They've been friends since they were little."
Katherine speaks up again and says, "It's just I don't think Daphne should be riding on a motorcycle, because she's a bit young right?" I wasn't sure why she was talking about this but I just kept quiet for the time being. Mom says, "No, besides you don't need to tell me how I need to parent my girls. I was always fine with Daphne riding with Emmett." There was a pause and Daphne and I looked at each other, before they started talking again. "Oh, no I don't mean it in that way, Regina. I just don't understand it." Katherine says, as mom speaks up again. "Emmett is a safe driver, Katherine. That's why I let her ride with him. He's not like some teenagers who are careless and text while drive." At that moment, Daphne couldn't stand it anymore so she signed: Mom, please, no. Daphne got up and left the table after mom left and I felt like I could cry as I left, after being excused and followed mom and Daphne into the guest house. Daphne signs: It was awful! You ruined everything! Mom signs: Me? as she speaks. Mom starts packing up as I sign: We're leaving??. Daphne signs: What is it you don't like about them?. as mom signs: They're arrogant, and intitled. as she speaks. I couldn't stand anymore, when I felt tears start falling down my cheeks as mom looks at me and stops what she's doing. I don't say anything, all I do is let tears keep falling as I look at Daphne who signs: I'm staying here. I just think you should give them a chance. I go over to the couch and sit there in silence while I sob.
Bay goes inside with Katherine, who was putting the dishes away and hears her mom say, "I hate that woman..." Bay looks at her mom and says, "So since you hate her, maybe you hate me too..." she walks away as Katherine looks after her, saying, "Honey, that's not what I meant..." As I sat in my room, I just hoped tomorrow was better, then the dinner at the Kinnishes was. Later that night, I picked out some pjs and went to go take a warm shower, and when I got out, I dried off and put on the pjs as I walked into my room to find my tablet phone vibrating and it was a call from Emmett. I smile as I go over to my bed, sit down and answer the call. Signs: Hey, Emmett. What's up?.
Nothing. Daphne told me about the dinner at the Kennishes.
I sigh as I sign: Oh yeah, that was horrible. How have you been?. He smiles as he signs: I've been doing okay, just lots of homework in different classes. I sigh and sign: Oh yeah, the worst parts of the day for that kind of thing is Bio and maybe History, but your mom doesn't even give us too much homework in English, which is great. He smiles. I'll see you tomorrow?. I smile and nod. Yeah, of course. I press the end button on my phone and brush out my hair as I dry it. If you are wondering how my phone is different from a regular one, it has a touch pad you use to answer calls with and also a end button. It blinks when I have a call sorta like my sensor by the front door and my bedroom door. I do have a regular Iphone but I only use that for texting. I finish getting ready for bed as I turn out the light and lay there in the silence for a few moments before falling asleep and dreaming of my future and thinking about tomorrow as well.
