"Are those spacepants, cause your aft is outta this world," Y/N said a small smirk plastered on their face. They stood beside the Marauder with their arms crossed. Tech cleared his throat as he inched out from underneath the ship.
Tech extended out his hand in a manner that signified he was requesting a tool. "Hydrospanner, please ," he requested as the other mechanic searched through the tools strung out on the work bench.
Y/N handed Tech the tool with an annoyed huff. "No comment," Y/N asked. Tech sat up with a puzzled face. "I fail to see that your, rather crude, statement would require a response. Given that I am not as knowledgeable in that realm of social skills."
"And swoosh... It just went right over your head, Techie. Just like starships." Y/N rolled their eyes before turning on their heels to leave Tech to remanence in their words.
"It was a pickup line, Tech. You know what, just... just forget it. I'll leave you alone now. Tech flashed Y/N an apologetic smile before sighing to himself.
Tech sat the tool down and picked himself up. Truth be told, he did know Y/N was flirting with him. However, he just didn't know how to respond. The playful flirts would either go over his head or he would analyze the living hell out of them to the point that they made no sense. He knew his brothers wouldn't be much help, but at this point, he'd take all the help he could get.
A soft knock came from outside the door of Hunter's room. Puzzled, Hunter opened the door to greet the guest. A soft chuckle escaped Hunter as he knew exactly what the issue was. Tech fidgeted with his hands, avoiding eye contact with his brother. Hunter sat on his bed and placed his elbows on his knees, much like a teenage girl waiting for their best friend to spill all their secrets. Tech took a seat across from him on a supply crate.
Tech ran his fingers through his hair and looked up in an anxious manner. "Where do I start?" Hunter smirked before bringing his hands up to his lips and then pointing at Tech. "I know what this is exactly about. Y/N." Tech opened his mouth in protest but quickly restored to staying silent. Hunter clicked his tongue, his hunch being right.
"So, I know where we can start. How do you feel about them?" Hunter crossed his arms and furrowed his brows in an attempt to tease Tech. It wasn't out of illintentions, but what a sibling would do to another after they discovered their first crush.
Tech looked at his hands and sighed. "I like them. Not as just as a friend. Something deeper. It appears you know that much, Hunter," Tech said, finally meeting Hunter's intrigued gaze.
Hunter huffed in annoyance. "I already knew that. But that's not why you're here. I saw Y/N walk by a few moments before you decided to pop in. They seemed pretty upset." Hunter leaned forward and grasped Tech's knee. "Cut to the chase. What happened? Why are you actually here," Hunter asked curtly.
"Y/N used a pickup line, and I had no idea nor courage to respond. They then got... what's the word... offended... No. That's not the right word. The point is I upset them. They then proceeded to tell me that things go over my head like 'starships'." Tech slumped forward and pushed his goggles up with both his hands in a deflated motion.
Hunter stood up before folding his arms across his chest. "Tech, you're the smartest brother I know. And that's saying a lot. I'm certain you have a line or two of your own. Just, next time they see you, hit them with it. Worst they could say is 'no', but you never know til you try."
Hunter left the room abruptly, leaving Tech alone. "Great talk," he muttered softly. Tech sat there for a couple of minutes before deciding to take his brother's advice and shot his shot.
Returning to perform the last of the maintenance on the Marauder, he caught a glimpse of them under the ship. Deciding it was now or never, he took his shot.
"You must be the square root of 2 because I feel irrational around you." A gasp escaped Y/N's lips as they banged their head on the ship trying to crawl out front underneath to see if it was actually Tech who had spoken. Laughing Y/N sat up and raised their brows. "I must be dreaming."I assure you, you are very much awake."
Fidgeting with his hands, Tech took one last look at Y/N before speaking. "I will give you a kiss. If you don’t like it, you can return it." With that, Tech squatted down and placed a soft kiss on their lips. He quickly parted only to be pulled back in for another kiss.
Tech began to panic from the realization of being kissed a second time. His eyes held uncertainty as Y/N watched him with a sly grin. "Relax, Tech. I just used it as an excuse to kiss you a second time. I enjoyed every second of it. But man, your lines need some work, but mine aren't much better."
"Hypocrisy."
